There has been a fence around it for ages — you can see part of the fence below — with signs that say Restricted Area on it… but as of noon today, a large swath of the fencing will come down as Bathurst Quay Common, a major new addition to our waterfront parkland, opens. On Monday, our Daily Photo caught an airplane streaking overhead of the restored Canada Malting Silos, and today in another image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor rdaner, he captures a section at the south end of the new landscape around the silos and the Corleck Building that's about to become part of the city's public realm, this time while test lighting was underway earlier this week.

Lighting will be a part of the show for the opening ceremonies between 5.30 and 8 PM, while on Saturday night, the silos will become part of a larger show as they become a giant screen for a projection that will be one of this year's Nuit Blanche installations. The Friday-Saturday night double bill will be a great way to introduce this new parkland to the city. Maybe we'll see you there!
