Have you ever talked with someone from the Upper Middle Class? Most of them absolutely don't believe that HSR is a waste of time or money. Like you say that as if VIA is a form of transit for "the common folk" when I'd very much argue that its not. VIA's ticket pricing even on the corridor are so high that they generally price out lower income residents.

Less fortunate people are more likely to take a coach bus rather than a train between Toronto- Montreal.
