U.S. to (Finally) Phase Out Incandescent Bulbs

As some people have stated, CFL's take a few seconds to warm up to their full lighting capacity. I don't think its a full minute, more like 20 seconds from my experience.

ya, I'm stocking up on incandescents! The world is a very cold and depressing place with fluorescent light... plus I think its a scam - that is the prices are fixed on the new lights to guarantee the companies the sames sales and profits as on the old bulbs even with fewer units sold because of longer life. I think they should be sold based on cost to manufacture. Also as has been mentioned, the amount of waster is far greater with the new bulbs. It just seems all the environmentally friendly solutions we are getting are really half assed and money is still the bottom line. The LED wave sounds promising though...

Concerning the lighting quality of the CFL's, I like the fact that they are not as yellow as incandescent bulbs. These things are, of course, very subjective. That's where lampshades come in handy.

The slow warmup phase is welcome on those extremely early to rise days.
