I'm still wondering how such a vapid candidate ever became a serious contender in this race in any way.

That's what happens when the party of centre-right gets hijacked by the religious right.....

So does the fact that McCain's supports booed Obama, but Obama's supporters cheered McCain mean anything or is this just what always happens when the victor mentions the loser and vice versa?

The NYT did some great things with its mapping of the results. Interesting that only a few regions went more red - the effect of McCain on his home state of Arizona is noticable. Also, one can see that the areas most hit by Katrina are red - my guess that was due to the migration of Blacks out of the region. One can see on the general NYT county results map that a crescent from northeast NC through to the Mississippi Delta is solidly blue - those are areas with very large Black populations.

There's also as a crescent-shaped Ozark/Appalachia belt that starts faintly in far SW PA and picks up in WV and KY and heads all the way to OK. Basically these guys:

sounds gayliness is close to godliness. also sounds like god pulled a ted haggard, purchasing men at the street corner, "first fruits" . all that's missing is the meth.

whenever i see a rainbow after it rains, i wonder. now we know why god is soo picky about his temples with their fancy cups, candles and incense. such attention to detail, everyone has to wear nice clothes, etc.

Having never seen God, just human manifestations of what God would look like, I believe that he's a myth until otherwise revealed.

I'm also sorta wondering what the results might have been like had, say, HRClinton been the Democratic running mate and Joe Lieberman the Republican running mate; a lot more flattened-out, I presume, and perhaps an even more sweeping Democratic Electoral College win...

Has anyone been reading the conservative sites like freedominion and freerepublic? It's a hilarious to watch them all spluttering and stammering now that it has become evident that American is more centre-right than far right.

Word. Even the lefties in the US are way way more to the right than leftists over here. It is highly offensive to Americans to pay money (in the form of taxes) to help or support someone worse off or different or poor or who has substabne abuse problems or who is homeless or whatever, it's seen as "socialist" which, to them, is a bad thing. They are highly individualistic, hence the constitutional right to 'bear arms'....

I may go visit those sites but I don't know if I can stomach them.
