TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I'm convinced people in this city have gone completely nuts over the past 10-15 years. Before that time, it would be unheard of to hear about the incessant amount of "medical emergencies", trespassers on track level, security incidents, etc.. on the TTC. Now it's essentially a daily ritual and if you dont hear about one, chances are that you would think you would in a dream.

And even with all of this in mind, the TTC goes ahead and continues with their low suite of security around their subway yards. Keele Yard is another one that immediately comes to mind where this kind of non-sense can happen with ease.
They should arrest them and slowly drag the person in front of everyone to shame them before they get taken to the police station. They are bad people who do things to profit but there are these people who do things that are completely unnecessary action that doesn't benefit anyone. E.g. climbing a crane for thrills.

The TTC won an award for its now-mostly completed modernization plan - Presto implementation, Blue Night expansion, new express routes, wi-fi in stations, signal upgrades, etc.

new source?
What award is this? if thats the case thats one of the dumber awards TTC can get...its like a congrats for catching up to the 21st century award... or a participation award.

So then why didn't the award go to somebody else?

Because despite all the hate, the TTC really is one of the best transit systems in North America. New York is probably the only system with more extensive service than Toronto, but they're plagued with reliability issues. Subway line shutdowns happen all the time and they don't have any replacement buses - if there isn't an alternate subway route (i.e. nearly anywhere outside of Manhattan) you have to figure out an alternative on the regularly-scheduled buses or just wait it out.

So then why didn't the award go to somebody else? I thought other cities were so much better at transit, according to all the Negative Nancys.

They are industry awards. Means zero. If you belong to the association, pay your dues and attend the conference each year you are eligible. Then they rotate the awards between all these paying members.

if you look at the past winners you can see there is never a repeat. It's a participation award you get every 30 years (TTC won it in 1986)

And if they can't even justify this fake award they give you an "innovation" award. Chicago and York Region are in this category.
