TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There's signs on the seats, to stop people sitting there because of Covid.
Can't recalled when I last saw a sign on a seat for COVID and mostly removed early this year or was that last last year.

On another note, the 3rd trail track has been cut in and it happen a few weeks ago when there was no service between Kipling and Islington.

Saw there was a stabbing at dundas west when I drove by, over an hour later 6 streetcars blocked and off but not one note on the alerts site about the service suspension for streetcars

New TTC Subway car funding on the table with Toronto New Deal. 70 trains total.

Funding for 55 new subway trains for the TTC’s Line 2 to ensure the safety and reliability of the subway network. Funding is conditional on federal matching contribution.

Procurement of new trains for Line 2 is a top priority for the TTC. To maximize this procurement opportunity, Metrolinx would purchase 15 additional trains for two priority transit projects — the Scarborough Subway Extension and Yonge North Subway Extension.

Also of note is 300M in one-time funds offsetting past ridership losses and to be used to bolster service frequency and rider safety to win back riders.

Plus operating funds for the Crosstown and Finch LRT in addition.

I post that info 7 pages behind this one

What you posted was that the TTC was again examining the issue.

What's been posted today is that the province has officially confirmed its paying for the new trains. (well up to 50% of the cost)

Still needs Fed funds. This will help not keeping the T1 around as long as the current plan calls for once the Fed's kick in funding and saving some funds doing so.

Not surprising the province is picking up the funding for Finch and Crosstown as they would be hard press to start at square one to get someone else to operate the line that it could be a year before X has enough operators to run the cars on opening day. It will take months of training before you can start running schedule pre testing of before the line can be open. Given there are a shortage of drivers in NA, are more people willing to be an driver of LRV's than buses and subways??

Still got to ATO line 2 and fix Greenwood. Who paying for that, beside TTC short fall??

BlogTO seems to think this is fully funded. Lol.
