TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

St. Patrick station has begun the process of installing new fare gates in conjunction with the construction of elevator access. Half of the fare entrance area has been closed and enclosed with hoarding. The other half has had its old fare gates removed and replaced with a single Presto reader and fare box. It will be interesting to see how quickly they can get the new gates installed.

According to the TTC website, construction of the new elevator access and accessible pathway will take 2 years.

What's in this box? It showed up at Sheppard-Yonge (one of the automatic entrances) sometime in the last few days

Looks like ttc are back to their slow sluggish ways after meeting the presto milestone. They really need to pick things up if they are to still start to phase out tokens by the end of the year.....or are they once again being partisan and milking it out as long as their "schedule" allows them to......

The most recent delay could have been due to the manufacturer delivering enough of the new gates to them. I think they used the ones that they were going to install in the rest of the system in the extension stations as they were ready first.

There was a report and a TTC board meeting 3 months ago talking about how Presto had to have another civil works contract in place for the remaining 26 stations. Might be the reason why construction is only starting now.

Yeah that makes sense to. Origionly they hadn't decided on a faregate design when they rushed presto in for the panam games at only the downtown stations and ones that connected to outside transit. Even when they redid union stations fare line they didn't have a design yet. To me it would have made more sense to put them in there first rather then starting with main street and then going randomly through the system.

.. Right as the Ryerson students return and the station returns to its full zoo status.. couldn't have done it when 30,000 ryerson students aren't filing in and out every day?
