TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Those narrow sections are horrible. There's only room for one person to stand and it's a pain to pass through them if the LFLRV is crowded. Unfortunately the Flexity Freedom's that will be used on ECLRT, FWLRT, SELRT are the same.

I am a fan of the two sets of double seats that are facing each other. It's good for travelling with groups of friends, or chatting with (or awkwardly ignoring) strangers. I met some pretty awesome people in those seats today, so they get a thumbs up from me :D

Is there a reason they can't do seats facing inwards only (with backs towards the outside)?

It seems like that's the more efficient format when the vehicle is crowded, leaving more standing room and room to move around.

Unlike other new or returning streetcar lines in North America, the 510 Spadina already has streetcars on it. Even with only two of the 12 new streetcars required, because of the strike at Bombardier, the TTC is able to run a streetcar service on the 510 Spadina. Hopefully, the strike will be over soon, so the remaining ten streetcars for the 510 Spadina (12) can be completed. (The two other new streetcars are backups, and may require ramp adjustments.)

Something called "bogies", or wheels, get in the way. Make a guess where those facing seats are located?

If the new streetcars were high-floor and not low-floor, then the seats layout could be more like the current high-floor streetcars. But then someone may complain about the steps.

Thanks for the explanation. At least with all door boarding, you don't necessarily need to move around the vehicle a huge amount.

Definitely the streetcar needs to have 2+1 seating. I understand that the mechanics under the seat may not make it possible but the wider aisle will be greatly missed. The CLRVs used to have more 2+2 seating and it was such a relief when they replaced one side with single seats.

Loved the ride. Smooth throughout, it had door chimes (I love those!), and best of all, AIR CONDITIONING!!!
