TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Dear new new streetcar,

Why aren't you on the road serving the good people of Spadina with us?

Sincerely,
The other two new streetcars.

Ever consider that maybe the new streetcars don't like you and don't want to serve you? I don't blame them.

Last week when I was on 510 Spadina, there were three in service.

I don't know when you looked, but all three were out until at least shortly after 5pm today, when I got down to Union. In fact, I passed 4404 in service.

Dear Bombardier

Please ship 4405 so we can get back on topic. Clearly you guys need a reason to giddy up so here it is.

Love and kisses
Urban Toronto

Here's your 4405 fix. You'll just have to keep waiting for the other one.

Honest question: Can the TTC run CLRVs that are hitched together? Could they not run these right now on Spadina? It would save on operator costs.

In theory yes, in practice all the necessary coupling equipment is not fitted and the connections to the vehicle itself not tested for years. By the time that was dealt with there will likely be enough delivered 4400s to displace CLRVs from 510 anyway. It's looking like the TTC are placing their bets on refurbing 30 ALRVs rather than going down the CLRV coupling road.
