How much money is the new food court going to cost? Is there any hope it will be the same quality as eaton centres urban eatary?

I'll bet they'll step it up a notch over the EC's snazzy new food space.

New UT dataBase page for this project here, with lots of food court renderings.

October 06,
They are working on the area for the 3rd tower crane over by Sears the day I was there.

The window from the existing food court is block off as they are removing the west end framing.

There a lot more photos up on site than here.

My roommate works at Yorkdale and said that last night there was a huge monster crane laying sideways on the north side of Yorkdale, perhaps a staging area? Don't know if it's coming down or going up.

It was taking up a good portion of the North parking lot adjacent the 401. I've seen similar mobile cranes used to put up tower cranes. It was there yesterday morning, but I don't recall noticing it today.

This is a random photo from the web, but the crane looked something like this:

He gave a detailed description of it, and that's pretty much how I imagined it looking.

M____J1, there no photo in your posting.

There no work going on, on the north side that I know of all since all the work is on the south side.

There is a 3rd crane to go up by Sears from my last visit and this crane could have been for it.

The crane could be putting something on the existing mall roof.

Weren't there some rumours that a big foreign chain would be arriving first in Canada at Yorkdale? Nordstrom's, Macy's, Bloomingdales, Lane Bryant, JC Penneys and Barney's have all been said to be looking for Canadian space. I left out Kohl's, since that chain (from what I gather from Americans I know) is more suitable for more "suburban" malls like Scarborough Town Centre, Pickering Town Centre or Fairview Mall.

Nordstrom's and Bloomingdales are the same as Holt so who cares, Macy's and JC Penny are the same as The Bay so who cares. All these stores sell the same brands for the same prices so what's the big deal. (and Lane Bryant for fat women, we have Additionel) They provide no real alternative to what is already here why get excited?

i agree. whats exciting about another department store? I was in the bay more during the renovations then in the last five years combined, and the only reason i was in it during the renos was because they constantly had sales better then boxing day pricing. now that the renos complete and the sales have ended i have only be in the store once and that was in my way to top shop. I dont think ive beenin the sears in 10 years so thats not any better. I wish yorkdale would get something more exciting like the lucky lanes bowling alley at vaughan mills or thego cart track.
