Toronto YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Did the building sell? That's pretty much all Canderel is concerned with. What "we" think is sort of irrelevant.
Exactly. Canderel's MO is always the same: 1. Give 'em a song and a dance & show some pretty pictures; 2. Take their money; 3. Proceed to build the cheapest piece of crap we can possibly get away with; 4. Maximize profit.

That's all they care about. They're so loyal to G+C because they deliver better than any other firm in the "cheap" department.

Wow. Boy, did that ever go up fast!

Oh wait - it's Taiwan.

At a first glance I thought it was another of Traynor's photoshops. Nope, G+C.

Thank goodness for the DRP.

That's like being the best crunk dancer at a Genesis concert.

Except we're building a taller version of it at Bloor and Yonge. 90% of the vitriol towards this design seem to stem from the fact that it looked like One Bloor. That said, 460 has a new design and far nicer than what's being proposed at 501 Yonge. 501 is fine for North York, but not Yonge Street downtown.

460 Yonge's old design and 1 Bloor had very little in common, regardless of a few very initial impressions about the shapes at work on its west and east elevations.

It's an insult to HPA to even suggest that 460 Yonge would remotely resemble One Bloor upon completion.

Apart from architectural vision, the major difference between HP and G+C designs are the attention to details. Firms such as HP, Core, & aA have done a fine job with introducing new hybrid cladding systems on their current projects (respectively Pinnacle on Adelaide, Fashion House, & Ice). G+C on the other hand have struggled getting past their window wall phase, with compositions such as Aura and Fly offering little to none design innovation.

To be entirely fair, if we're judging the worthiness of a building based on materials, Aura is using a decent amount of curtain wall. Not that it looks particularly good.

They've recently put up new application boards, and the design appears to have changed again. Now it looks more like the original design, but instead of having a wavy strip of curtainwall it's just a straight vertical bands.
