Way in back of the shop, you can see natural light streaming in through a window with divided lights that looks out into the 'TD Carriageway'.

This is not what I have heard - they may well be moved while the flooring is repaired/replaced but I think they WILL return and, I hope, looking better. Why do you think they are going?

A fresh coat of ceiling paint goes a long way. How long would it take? 1 day?

I bet it will be repainted overnight VERY soon. The old ceiling has been repaired from the York concourse to about the centre of the station ramp - where the currently open (or soon to open) stores are. One clearly wants to do the painting at the end.

Is Union Station open 24hours? If I have insomnia some night, can I go and wander the new concourses some morning at 2AM?

No, it closes from about 1.30am to 5.30 if I remember the signage right.

I believe the general hours are something like that, but you can access the station due to the UP Express's longer service hours. From https://www.upexpress.com/SchedulesStations/UnionStation "Please note that early morning and late night access to UP Union Station is available using the west entrance of the Great Hall (65 Front St West) before 05:30 weekdays and Saturdays (06:30 on Sundays/Holidays) and after 00:45 daily." Their first train is at 5:30am and their last train is at 1:30a, the service counter is open from 5am to 1am daily.
Not sure if that entrance is open 24 hours. I doubt it. Might be closed something like 2AM to 4:30AM?
