I guess if one is used to eating a shit sandwich every day, then a bowl of diarrhea isn’t that offensive.

After nearly a decade of waiting for a solution, they filled an industrial PVC pipe with shotcrete, some of them not even filled level to the top so they’ll become pools of dirty rainwater, then instead of cutting the granite paver to fit the bollard, they cut it straight to save time and filled the gap with more shotcrete. This, in front of our main train station.

I promise you, there are cities that take pride in their public spaces and contractors who have the basic skills to deliver something less than mediocre.

I didn't say it was great and there is certainly room for improvements, particularly in the quality bits...

...I don't think it's something we should be overthrowing our current municipal government over.

That’s my only hope — that they’re somehow awaiting a sleeve or a cap that goes over top. But to be perfectly honest, they’ve taken the fences down around these and the square cut around a round bollard isn’t something you “finish” after, it’s something you get right the first time.

You said it wasn't "offensive". I personally find it offensive that our municipal govt. spent nearly a decade and a million of our dollars on work someone's cousin Tony would have spent a couple of weekends on for a case of beer.
 
I was waiting outside the station when a guy came out from behind the construction fencing and lit a cigarette.

I slapped the side of a bollard and asked: “What’ll it look like when it’s finished?”

Guy: “…it’s done.” 🚬
