Eglinton is closed from Holly to Redpath this weekend. Is it so they can remove the crane?

A few more pictures of the crane itself on Saturday:

With the hoarding down, the podium really dominates the streetscape. By taking up the entire block it feels quite overscale compared to the more fine-grained street level that surrounds it.

Looks like it won't be completed for a while... What I don't understand is how they have 'learned that other trades may also commence with strikes...' ?! Should this not affect other buildings in Toronto as well??

"We are writing to advise that a labour strike by dry-wallers and tile-setters in the Greater Toronto Area commenced on May 2, 2016. We have also learned that plumbing and other trades may also commence with strikes in the very near future. As such, the construction activity at The Madison at Yonge & Eglinton may be slowed or not performed for some time causing an inevitable delay to occupancy closing dates.

This type of delay is classified as an “Unavoidable Delay” pursuant to the Tarion Addendum affixed to the agreement of purchase and sale governing the above-noted transaction. An Unavoidable Delay is beyond a homebuilder’s reasonable control and does not trigger delay compensation. The Tarion warranty framework allows homebuilders to shift critical dates with proper notice to accommodate the delay.

At this juncture, the delay to the construction activity at The Madison at Yonge & Eglinton by the dry-wallers’ strike is estimated to be forty-five (45) days. Please note that your occupancy date may be postponed by the corresponding duration of the outstanding strike and possibly longer (to cover any additional time required to re-schedule the trades and to properly coordinate the work to be finished). The Vendor will provide further notice advising you of the situation and next steps in this matter. Should occupancy closing dates need to be postponed, the Vendor shall notify you in writing of such postponement and will set a revised occupancy closing date. "
