Thanks for taking the time to do that. I haven't looked at the renders is a while, and I forgot that this building has a rather attractive staggered design. Great contribution to the area. Very exciting when it'll be done.

Thanks Miscreant. I agree with you about the attractive design, but I'm struggling to see where the bump outs will occur. I've studied the building from every view point, and I fail to see the indentations in the poured concrete floors where one might expect the bump outs to be, especially on the south and east elevations. I can only assume that the glass curtain walls will cantilever out beyond the concrete floor edge on select floors as per the renderings.

I made that exact comment a week back or so, worried its been cut !

you can see it in this photo here by Edward Skira on the last page. the floor below the last poured floor has forms sitting there with no concrete poured.. that is where the little 2 floor "indent" will be.

^ I hope you're right. I'm still a skeptic though. When I look back at someMidtowner's pics from August 20, it looks like there might be a concrete slab overhang there between the 8th and 9th floor, and the metal framing might only be temporary bracing supported from the floor below until the upper floor slab cures. But I ain't no engineer, so we'll have to wait for the framing to be removed to know for sure. I'm pretty optimistic the final product will end up closely matching the renderings. It is Great/First Gulf's head office after all, and I think they will want this building to make a real statement on completion.

The setbacks are not visible yet because the effect is mostly created by setting the glazing back on some floors; the floor slabs themselves are all quite consistent / do not vary that much.

The engineering here is not particularly advanced; these cantilevers are very similar to the creation of a balcony. You can rest easy because I can't imagine the building's setbacks will differ at all from what is shown in the renderings/elevations/plans.

^ On my way to work this morning I stopped and had a closer look at the 8th floor forms on the south elevation, and I have to agree now with innsertnamehere. There is no concrete slab extension where the forms are, so it's clear to me the built form is consistent with the renderings. Not sure why I would have thought otherwise, but I must admit I was beginning to wonder. I'm quite relieved. Can't wait to see what the two tone tinted glazing will look like.

The cladding on that data centre. So good. This neighbourhood is on its way up for sure. Just gotta be rid of Acura and that Staples.

Well, that Acura is going (in December to Front/Trinity/Cherry) and the plans for the site (197 Front E) are moving along. Yes, the plans are better than what's there now but they could be SO much better! The Staples site was sold a year or so ago (Greenpark Homes, IIRC) - no sign of any designs.
