I kinda like it to be honest. It's in scale with the neighbourhood, I like the brick to break up the monotony of an otherwise 'striking combination of glass and steel'. Not going to win any awards, but it's better than some others nearby
 
Is there a project you haven't accused of being just a rental building?

I was reading somewhere--it may even have been an urbanation tweet--that something like 80-90% of downtown condos are rentals.

I do know Onni aggressively targets the investor crowd--many will be rentals here.

I was actually thinking I sort of like this building--as a rental :) I could almost imagine renting here--when the Bathurst bridge is redone.

hard to tell from this picture, but the windows are really dirty.
i guess being next to the Gardiner can mess up your windows quick.

Will the pollution coming from the Gardiner affect the health of the residents of these buildings? There's a high concentration of vehicular exhaust, and also diesel train exhaust from the nearby railway corridor.
 
it looks pretty good from the north and east... not so much from the south and west. I dont know how anyone could choose to live hanging right over the expressway like that. there would be little to no enjoyment of the outdoors. I really hate the look of the west end of the building as it essentially becomes a view terminus for east bound traffic on the Gardiner from just east of Liberty Village. there really is a sort of jarring ugliness to it's west face as it is featureless and sterile and looms ever larger, blocking out the skyline the closer you get to it. I would also hope they are going to plant some trees in that gap between the sidewalk on Bathurst and the foundation of the building which currently just seems to be crushed stone. This are can use as much greenery as it can get.
 
^ I completely disagree. Its proximity to the Gardiner makes it look very impressive from motorists' perspective.
 
So why couldn't they build the retail porch right up to the street and knock down that railing on the east side? That is retail space right? After Aura's shops, that's about the least promising place I can imagine to open a business.
 
I like this a lot but I think the retail will be a complete failure, I completely agree with you Lansdude. This is due to the lack of integration with the street.
 
This area is desperate for retail so depending what goes in there, it may do well simply because of lack of anything else. At least until Loblaws opens
 
I hear you, but the street frontage may be that way currently because of the upcoming Bathurst St reconstruction.

I don't think Bathurst will be raised 3m+ ? ; - )
