Hamilton Steelport | ?m | ?s | Slate | Gensler

can anyone grab these additional renders?

Don't know how many of these are 'new' to the thread, but.....

From the Urban Design docs:

And more, but that's all I can fit in one post.

For those wishing to contribute, I got to p.87

*Caution, the above is a fairytale, not a legally binding promise. That doesn't mean we won't get some of it or something like it, but we're talking very high level concept at this stage, and the above will be costly to deliver.

yeah something tells me this won't quite look the way these renders portray it. And i'm also concerned about the timeline... when is this even going to happen? There has been no word on that, just nice marketing material.

I'd honestly be somewhat happy with just a waterfront trail that is kind of nice with a few trees and benches. Good for cyclists and pedestrians to walk along. Connecting it to other trails would be great.

The industrial sector is a huge component of Hamilton's economy and history, and I'm super glad to see investment here, but the way it completely cuts off prime waterfront land from Hamilton residents seems like a huge missed opportunity that I'm hoping Slate is able to resolve.

There's is surely some expectations of city investment into this plan too. Slate won't do any of this without buy in from the city.

This would be massive for Hamilton's job market, economic base, and property tax revenue so I welcome it. I hope the city ensures they don't stand in the way, while also ensuring that Slate is serious about investment here.

If this works Dofasco is next!

One of the interesting things revealed in the documents is the timeline which sees approval by end of 2024. As well I believe that phase 1 may already be leased. As phase 2 includes the waterfront campus and extensive ‘lagoon’ construction I imagine prospective tenants have already been approached (Brock and Mohawk I’m looking at you!) lol A surprise was the mention of a convention centre along the western edge in a later phase as this is the first time that I have heard this mentioned.

And finally surprised that there isn’t a cruise ship terminal!
