It's cool to wonder just how many old artifacts and basements are probably still buried under parking lots. Excavation uncovers many lost remnants of our past.

Agreed. I remember walking by the MLS site during excavation and seeing wooden docks that were buried when the lake was filled in. I didn't know what they were, but thanks to a UT member they filled me in. That's one thing I love about this forum, all they combined knowledge of all the members.
 
Woolworth's. It was the central demolished-landmark idee fixe of John Martins-Manteiga + Gene Threndyle's "Clearcut" book a decade ago...
