Toronto St. Clair West Transit Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC

I thought the TTC washed each bus and streetcar every night to wash off the previous day's dirt (and salt) accumulation. Are they going to have some sort of washing and cleaning operation set-up for the isolated streetcars on St. Clair? Or hope the rain will do the job for them?
Rail delivery and welding for Bathurst is scheduled in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully by the time the tracks are ripped up the snow and salt will be gone. I guess some maintenance and cleaning will be done up at St. Clair. The 3 spare cares stored between Vaughan and Bathurst will have 24 hour security.

In one section, the new style of street light was installed onto a couple of old wooden poles. It must be temporary, but all the poles around those were already replaced. What happened is a curiosity.

Thanks for the pics. It will be interesting to see what they do at Bathurst (i.e. if they go ahead with the plan to eliminate westbound on Fleet at the intersection). Do you know if the stops are getting St.Clair style shelters?

Excuse me if I'm missing something, but why are there pictures of the Waterfront ROW in a thread about St. Clair? Are we afraid of creating a thread for a completely different topic?

I was confused when people were discussing a Fort York stop in a St.Clair ROW thread. mods?

Someone asked a question and did not understand the answer and that why the photo's were posted for Fleet. Not the first time where other thread or OT have taken place in threads.

The only thing I see from the photo's I shot on March 4 and March 22, concrete has been pour between the rails east of Lansdowne.

The battle zone between Dufferin and Oakwood is done as all the holes have been fill with asphalt.

That is the signage they are using on the transit shelters? Uuugh! White backlit? Why didn't they stick with the white on black with a coloured stripe the way they have the signs on subway stations? Seriously, does the Toronto logo need to be on transit signs too? White backlit always looks cheap. Virtually every station uses white on black for lit signage except for Eglinton West which looks cheap.

I also don't understand why the TTC is continually adding new power conduits. Why are their power needs constantly increasing? Are they running a grow op in the back rooms somewhere?

Hey maybe running a grow op would be a good idea to raise some revenue?;)

The new power conduits in St. Clair W Stn. are carrying power that was running in cables buried in the streetcar loop track bed. These buried cables were not in the as-built drawings for the staion and were run into last August when work began on the loop. Hence the 7 month delay in returning streetcars to the loop.
The loop is to reopen this Sunday and then streetcars will no longer go as far west as Oakwood.

Thanks for the pics. I love the way it looks. Im closer to the west end of St. Clair so I rarely get to see the completed ROW. Its looking great!

Does anyone know why the ROW from Dufferin going west is being built at the same level as the street? What happened to the raised ROW?

Thanks for the pics.
Are these things supposed to be benches??
Each new platform has 2 of these things as well as the much lower seat under the sheltered portion. Their height and slope make them seem unsuitable for sitting on.
They seem a bit of a hazard the way they jut out into the platform walkway. I think they should be left out on future platforms and the steel cables should be heavier so they are more vandal resistant.
