Starbucks is still open in the old Chapters store. The other small Indigo store in the Mall is close.

From our point of view, the new Indigo store is larger than the old store. There are even some tables and chairs for people to read at. A very nice store.

The Rec Room is only a few weeks from opening.

Been trying to find out some info on the work going on at Entrance 4. Not sure if anyone has noticed but there has been some heavy demolition work going on inside the movie theater. They have cut out a section of the wall on the west side of the theater for access in/out for heavy equipment removing debris. I found a building permit dating back to Sept 29 2018 for unit 2-450 "interior demolition to return to base building - landlord work". So looks like they are simply prepping the area for a potential future tenant.

The last time I talked to management last year, they said there was to be announcement coming soon for the theater, but nothing has surface yet.

All entrance are being rebuilt with sliding doors to meet accessibility standards. At the same time, that entrance has to redone to deal with the plan LRT ROW that will be on part of Sq One Mall land on Duke of York.

That end has been a white elephant since it was built and should be torn down and rebuilt.

Over the past few years I've heard of at least 3 or 4 different plans for the theater, and all of them have flopped.
I agree, that entire part of the mall was awkward and poorly designed from the beginning.

The Rec Room opens, I believe, March 19th.
What I saw a few weeks ago, it would/could open mid March easy. It was in the process of being stock then, with training of staff to follow.

Lets see what they can do for the theater area and corridor.

The Rec Room is basically open but for private events. Today, people, old and young, were in there eating, playing the games, etc.

I hope that the old theatre section gets totally redone and Cineplex moves into it from just down the street. I know it was already a Cineplex for a short while after Empire was bought up, before it was quickly closed down. It'll free up a huge parcel of land for redevelopment if they move back in.

As I understand, all the elevated theatre style seating has been removed, so it will not be a theatre going forward. Most likely, at least part of this will be the location for the Cheesecake Factory.
