Toronto River City Condos Phases 1 & 2 | ?m | 16s | Urban Capital | ZAS Architects

Looks pretty decent. The recent wave of TCHC projects are really looking much better than the average condo project and appreaciated....

Thanks for the added info, Savel! I wasn't trying to disparage you, but just suggesting that we shouldn't get *too* excited about the building nearing the end of pre-sales. But the added info you've provided definitely makes me more optimistic construction will start soon.

As for the THCH - Baird Samspon Neuert seems to be iffy in terms of the quality of their completed projects. Also, not that this discredits them or anything, but they seem to do a lot of mausoleums. I'm not sure I'd want my seniors' residence to be built by a mausoleum designer.

Great picture of the berm and what will be, sooner or later, Bayview Avenue once again.
They appear to have done most of the underground work (water, drains, hydro etc) at the east end of Mill Street (east of Cherry) and are working on the east end of Front Street and one of the construction guys told me they hope to do 'rough paving' in September. The trench in the photos is an Enbridge one as they have been fixing a huge gas main for several months. Bayview Avenue will end at Mill Street so does anyone know when the work on Bayview will be finished and the road actually opened again?

Perhaps the "pioneers" who buy in this area will do so for the view of electric pylons, train tracks, and elevated traffic ramps?

There are some nice value added touches with those retro pylons - which are pictured, incidentally, in William Kurelek's 1972 painting The Don Valley on a Grey Day at the AGO - especially the ancient, rusted barbed wire barriers wound around them to apparently prevent climbers, which I notice whenever I walk across the bridge at Queen.

lol! thanks for clearing the air. I heard varying start dates from as early as September to Jan 2011. Good point on the THCH design too

The problem isn't having pylons there - but the design and maintainence of pylons - where appearance takes a back seat to efficiency. Here are some examples of pylons that actually look attractive:

Number One! Please :)

You're kidding? They're keeping those high tension wires?
I thought the ditch being dug under them was to bury it! Guess not....

I would not buy a condo in that development if I had thousands of KWs 5 meters from my balcony.
