Queen Street side, earlier today. Sorry about cellphone quality...

The city needs to move the hydro lines underground. Looks like they keep adding bits to these poles.

Of course, I agree. It's really hard for the beauty of our city to shine through with all that clutter. It really reflects poorly on the city. Look to far the right of that photo. There are three poles within metres of each other. It's ridiculous. We need to phase out that clutter and modernize these streetscapes. How is it that progress is being made on virtually all other fronts except for this one?

Progress is being made though just not at a pace any of us would like. They can't seem to finish a job either. They bury the wires yet leave amputated poles behind.

This building is far from offensive, but it does look like it's from the 90s to me.

From Today

Hello All. Took these shots with my cell phone on my way to work. Now that the glazing has gone in, I think it's looking pretty good. I know there was a bit of chat about the brick colour, but I think it works well overall. And the design has a very cohesive colour palette and feel. Very happy overall with the way it's turning out. The colour is a welcome additon to the area - as is the building in general.

Also spoke to a purchaser by chance and she was told occupancy is roughly July 2011. So hopefully by this summer, the retail will be ready or at least nearly ready. In either case, i'm pretty excited to get a Bob Loblaws on the corner:D Winner is also good.

And on an unrelated note, everyone should try out 5th Elementt restaurant. They just reopened right at Queen St & Portland, right beside Epicure. They used to be up at Bay/Wellesley. It's a great Indian Fusion menu, really delicious and creative food. I keep seeing the place pretty empty and am worried they'll close up shop again. So i'm pandering to the masses on their (but really my own) behalf. Definitely worth a try.

Happy Thursday!

For a little while there I kept wondering when they were going to replace all the plywood with glass up on the residential part of the building. It was only when I actually glanced at the renders once again that I realized it was tan-coloured cladding.

The Loblaws is supposed to open in October.
