Various sources report that MEC intends to have the store opened by the end of the year. How are they going to do consturtion that quickly ??

A blurry one, so I can't tell for sure if it's outta the ground yet or not…

Such a disappointing render. With this store and the Jack Astor's around the corner, why not bulldoze the entire block and create a Milton-esque power centre?

This type of development on Queen West is a disappointment. I wanted to see 6-10 floors of residential above.

There's a Heritage Conservation District in effect on this stretch of Queen which prohibits new buildings higher than three floors before a major stepback, and severely curtails building much higher than that.

Which is, of course, the very reason that this lot was affordable for MEC!

The aerial suggest there's nothing heritage north to this stretch of Queen West for at least a block. There's nothing on Bulmer. Apart from 6 row houses on north of Bulmer on Soho, there's nothing till one hits Phoebe.

Surely they're not preventing taller than 3 floors on this whole stretch because of 6 row houses???
