I think it's actually owned by Harbourfront hence why the elevators have audio in English and French when they work. The condos probably just rent space in them or pay monthly parking fees for it.No way is this parking garage lasting very long after the Simcoe ramp comes down. It'll be bathed in light with a new cyclepath and wide sidewalk in front.
My understanding is that this parking belongs to the condos surrounding it so I'm not sure of the logistics of how that works. Does the developer find an offsite location to park these cars until a new underground garage is built or is it just logistically impossible since the parking spots are owned and not leased?
Then again, I guess everyone has a price.
The City notice was posted a bit higher up the thread. They expect to close York & Harbour on the Victoria Day weekend. Movin' on.Lower Simcoe Street will be completely closed between Lake Shore and Queen's Quay this weekend, likely so the old ramp can be demolished without danger to pedestrians or motorists.
MetroMan beat me as I was typing thisWhat am I looking at here? Are they reusing those extended bents? What are those triangles?
You mean a 3 month trip to get everything down from Yonge to the Don. It would sure make the area look a lot better, but who going to pay for the removal??It's remarkable how fast the Gardiner can come down. What if we sent John Tory and a bunch of his cohorts off on a 2 week "business trip"?
A ramp is easy to take down the rest of gardener isn't as you would also have to close lake shore for the duration of it.It's remarkable how fast the Gardiner can come down. What if we sent John Tory and a bunch of his cohorts off on a 2 week "business trip"?
