Just me, or does this crane seem unusually tall for the start of a project?
Just me, or does this crane seem unusually tall for the start of a project?
Given that the buildings peak out at 16 floors (plus mechanical), relatively they are not that tall. The crane looks to have been installed at its full height, so it will not need to be raised in stages through the construction process.
It is much more common to see cranes installed at their full final height from the start out in the suburbs, where buildings have typically not been that tall. If I recall, the cranes for some of the projects along Queen's Quay East were also installed at the full final height right at the start.
The other reason (not the case here) is that the crane needs to be installed tall in order to clear the tops of other buildings adjoining the site.
