Shoring under way a few hours ago, with lots of drill bits on hand and waiting for the right moment.

A lane closed on each of King and Blue Jays Way, with much of the scaffolding in place to hold the hoarding, from about four hours ago:

This is scheduled for a minor variance hearing on November 4, 2015. No word on what the requested variances are but the prior MV application is available and has the heights of these two at 155.8m and 140.35m for the taller and shorter towers respectively.

I am under the impression that the variance has to do with changes to the size of amenity areas in the building, likely in conjunction with the redesign of some hotel spaces.

While the preparation work continues, the steel girders for the facade support structure have now arrived on site. Erection of the support structures for the facades being retained should be underway soon.

I'm really not expecting anything special from this one. The combination of P+S and IBI usually equates to lackluster outcomes. Add to the fact the developer is Chinese based, this will most likely be a very cheap looking product.

This China-based developer owns several of the tallest buildings in the world. They might pleasantly surprise us. If they intend to build more in Toronto, they won't want their first development (which will include a luxury hotel) to be a big disappointment.

How can they surprise us? We've seen the renderings and know the architects involved. The only surprise is whether this will be solid logs or diarrhea broth.
