Hurontario is the third LRT after Eglinton and Finch. Shouldn't there have been learnings from the previous two? (Though neither Eglinton nor Finch have opened yet even though they look largely complete..)

Aren't they all being built by different consortia, and not necessarily with local design talent?
 

Responding to questions from Mayor Carolyn Parrish at Wednesday’s meeting of general committee, city manager Geoff Wright said he expects more information from Metrolinx in the next couple of weeks or so.

Wright, who noted the provincial government has committed to paying for the “downtown loop,” said officials with the transit agency overseeing the project told him “they would be coming back to us this fall with an implementation strategy for the loop in addition to the discussion about the extension of the Hazel McCallion Line into Brampton.

All the videos I shot that day of the corridor are now on line. It from Steels to PC with a few missing areas for a total of 8 videos in section, 1 combine and 1 fast speed.

They were pouring concrete at Hurontario and Bunhamthorpe yesterday (Oct 8). I was only passing by and could not stop for pictures. Hoping the intersection will finally be done.

Finally done? We got to rip it back up to put the curves in now!

This is getting out of hand considering the base was poured last Thursday. Don't recalled where there was a week between pour, but the intersection will be fully open by Sat with luck.

They should strip the formwork on Thursday and start backfilling. Depending on how much backfilling is done on Thursday, paving could take place Friday while the remaining backfilling is been done and paving flipping over to do that side with some late night paving taking place.

Finally done? We got to rip it back up to put the curves in now!
It will be finally done until the revised EA is done as well funding is in place for the loop. When that will happen will be based on the report from ML in the coming weeks to council where a timeline will be presented for it.

Depending how much of the intersection has to be remove, you are looking at 3-4 months of constriction based on current method. If you move to a 7/24, it should be 2 months. As I noted before, the northbound track should be saw on either side of the intersection where the switches have to be place that will have some impact on traffic. The rest becomes a guessing game how they will handle the southbound tracks, switches, curve tracks and the 2 diamonds, but a large portion of the concrete between the 2 tracks can be save.

The big question is, will Mobilinx be doing this work and still holding the 30 year contract when time comes to do it??

Its a ho hum another ML project gone off the rail and not worth it to anyone.

Was class as media at ML meetings and events years ago before I stop attending then that when I brought juice raw meat stories and facts on various things, the media folks would only deal with simple matters. I few try to get some of those things pass their editor that went to cold storage.

If and when Mobilinx stop working on the line due to lack of funds and liens get place them by sub trades for non payment, then there will be press coverage for this mess.
 
It is pretty shocking that there's litigation in so many of these projects (Eglinton, Finch, now Hurontario). As long as the work does stop I guess...
I really don’t understand it. I’ve renovated multiple times at home also for work and never have projects been so far behind or so over budget. The Rogers centre is renovated every year. I don’t remember them having these issues.
