Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Hurontario (at least south of Burnhamthorpe) hasn't been maintained by the province since about the 60's, long before Mike Harris. It was a municipally-maintained "connecting link".
In my case, it was part of the big Harris download in 1997. It was a joke when the city put a very thin coat of new pavement over the rotting road. Of course, it broke up by the next spring.

I think my point was that when I was MUCH younger, many of these areas were working farms, with original families. And there were Provincial Highways or recently Provincial Highways fronting the properties or connecting to other areas to the West and North. But you are correct, even in those time's, sections of those highways had names (depending on where your were, and if you knew the local name), especially older highways (such as 5) which had been named roads long before they were recognizable paved highways. So I believe I understand the point being made, and I will endeavor to refer to Hurontario and Dundas by their current names, and can we please move onto something more relevant to the thread.

Ottawa doesn't even have urban regional roads anymore as its a megacity like Toronto. I think it has numbered "City" roads in the rural areas still.

Decided to check out the Hurontario LRT today.

You had better sunlight luck than me today as it mostly overcast for me.

Top Flight area still the same way like it was 6 weeks ago based on your photos.

Based on what I saw today, the southbound track between Sandstone and Trader will have the base concrete pour to anchor the rail base in place this month, once a small section of missing rail is install as well spice to the existing rail. I counted 8 splice area and not sure about 2 others. Where the rail meets the Sandstone intersection rails, there is a gap and a fish place between the 2 section that doesn't look like it will be splice. Could be an expansion joint or will be splice later since the pouring of the base concrete has no effect on the splicing.

Matheson has no left turn signs up in all direction, but did not stop drivers from turning illegally nor driving through red lights. Work for the intersection is to be done by Dec 15. Concrete base is pour for the guideway for westbound Matheson lanes and a lot faster than the other intersections so far considering work only started No 2.

Some time this month, the traffic will be using the new lanes between Bristol and Eglinton to allow the centre section to be dug up for the guideway to match what is already dug up.

Between 403 and 401, new taller hydro poles now in place with most waiting for cables to be strung for them so the existing ones can be remove.

The next area where beams will be install for the elevated area will be over the eastbound off ramp as well over the ramp to City View. Even the southbound ramp for 403 eastbound is ready for beams. A lot more piers are up to the west and waiting for framing of the pier top. A number still in the ground.

The westside sidewalk and 3 lanes close for the 403 overpass so reconstruction of it can get underway as phase 1 of 3 phases.

No work has started on the pier support for the elevated bridge over the 403, other than the centre section that almost complete.

From Kingsbridge to Eglinton, the eastside is strung for curb pouring and this will allow the shifting of traffic to the eastside of Hurontario so work can take place for the southbound lanes.

There's literally no signage anywhere for Highway 10 in Mississauga. If you're referring to Caledon, then sure. How people still even know it was called Hwy 10 at one point is beyond me.
Actually, there is a sign for it... on the 407 off ramps. But besides that, not sure if there are any other signs that indicate in Mississauga or Brampton that Hurontario is Hwy 10. I guess there is a hint at the Bovaird/Main-Hurontario intersection that both roads were highways at one point because on all 4 corners they have signs that indicate which place you'll be getting to depending on direction.

The topic may be gettIng old, but perhaps for those of you just a tad younger, a couple of photos pulled from The Kingshighway.ca. The upper photo is from Brampton and very close to the the intersection of HWY 10 and 7, from 1963

The lower is from Bloor, near Brentwood in 2009.

You're missing the point: It's not the posting of numbers that's the issue; it's the vernacular...nobody ever called Bloor St. "Hwy. 5" in Toronto.

How about we end the Highway 10 vs Hurontario Street debate. It’s boring and irrelevant to the Hurontario LRT project. Plus, getting notifications about it sucks.
I agree, the name of the street is irrelevant... but you mean the Hazel McCallion Line don't you? ;)
