Toronto Hotel X (was Hotel in the Garden) | ?m | 27s | Exhibition Place | NORR

I heard today that a second hotel is coming next to Hotel X. Hotel X is the high end brand and the other is going to be more middle of the road.

It's unfortunate how poorly this turned out.

I thought the Design Review Panel was supposed to raise the quality of design in Toronto.

The City had very little oversight of this: the Exhibition Place Board has powers over most everything to do with new buildings on their site, with no-one looking over their shoulder.

I feel like if even that tan precast had been white (like Picasso) or a dark dark stone it would have looked immensely better.

Reminds me of the hated Montparnasse Tower in Paris. Much better to go up that than the Eifel Tower because you can actually see the Eifel and don't have to look at the Montparnasse.
 
Did this building even need to exist? Like, were people wanting to stay at the Exhibition Place during their visit?
