Mississauga GO Transit: Cooksville GO Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | WalterFedy

April 17
A lot of work has been done since my last visit that most of the new bus area been clean up along with landscaping on both side of the tracks. The stair from the walkway fully enclosed and nearing completion. All the steel is up on the new platform with about 50% with the roof on it.

The new elevator and stair way almost completed in the parking lot area. Curbs being install for the road to Hurontario as well the Transit bus road from the north side of the garage. More mesh has been installed on the garage.

By the looks of things, fall completion with some phase opening.

I counted 5 cars in the parking garage and 3 in the parking lot by the bus bay.

Looks like GO is putting all the FP's in service pushing 6 cars trains. Got to be well over a decade when I last saw FP's and 6 cars on the Milton line that were running hourly. Saw one train come in, but could see how many got off.

Metrolinx has posted signs for the elevators saying on 2 on it at any given time.

Lot more up on site.

What’s with the platform edge strip facing an earth embankment in this picture? Is it a provision for another track?

That has always been the plan since early 2000. That track was to be in place by 2011 to allow go to run all day service back then. 3 spots on the line have that 3rd track in place with Kipling being one location and from Confederation to the north side of 403 as another. They even built the 3rd track bridge over Cawthra Rd.

What caused the project to not be completed? CP? Even if all day service only went to Cooksville, it would be a “quick win” until all day is extended to Milton.

It expected either CP was asking too much money for the line or CP felt it wasn't in their best interested to having this 3rd track. It would also effected the Streetsville Yard. Then there is that nice curve at Mississauga Rd. The issues was raised a number of times by council over the years, but no clear answer was given to them by staff. I have never been given a clear answer from GO back then.

Since the siding track between Dundas and Hurontario not being use, easy to upgrade it to mainline, but needs a bridge over Hurontario. I stand to be corrected, Confederation bridge will support that 3rd track today and Mavis can support 4 tracks. Dixie Rd bridge can support 4 tracks. but all the other bridges east of it can only support 2. The ROW between Dixie and Dundas can support 4 tracks, but requires a lot of work to clear it and built tracks. All the sidings are gone now.

The 2014 Election call for the Milton to be 4 track by 2021/22 for about $2 Billion, but disappear after the election.

The Lisgar Station platform is built to be a centre platform when that 3rd track came.

Cooksville GO: Station changes start Monday, May 25

Cooksville GO passengers: Starting Monday, May 25, there will be improvements to how you access your station when the bus loop and Kiss & Ride open at their permanent locations.

New Kiss & Ride

• We’re closing the current Kiss & Ride and opening the new one on the east side of the station.
• You can access it from the newly opened John Street, west of Hurontario Street. Check our map to see the new Kiss & Ride location.
• At this time, you won’t be able to get to the parking garage from the new Kiss & Ride as construction is still going on in the area. Please follow the signs.

New bus loop

• The current bus loop will be closed and a new one will open on the north side of the parking garage, giving you easier access to the pedestrian tunnel inside the garage.
• Only GO buses will use the new bus loop for now. MiWay buses will drop off and pick up passengers on John Street, just south of the new Kiss & Ride.
• We’re installing digital signs that will provide you with trip information in the future. This means that some bus platforms will be temporarily relocated. Please follow signs to find your platform.
• Check our map to see the new location of the bus loop.

Temporary Closure of GO Access Road

• We’re closing the main GO Access Road until summer 2020 to repave and repair the road and adjacent parking lot.
• To access the parking garage, please use the West GO Access Road.
• You can also use the Kiss & Ride via John Street.

Please be patient as you become familiar with the new location of the bus loop and Kiss & Ride. Give yourself a little extra time to get where you’re going until construction is completed later this year. Click here to learn more about construction at your station.

Had a look at the station today. Paving of the new John St was taking place and should be finish by the end of the day. A wide asphalt path next to the north sidewalk is in-line with the crosswalk for Hurontario and most likely for bike/pedestrian.

Arrows were been added to the kiss & Ride lanes. Pavers being install between the parking structure and the station. All the roof up for all the next platform and up to the walkway tower. Still have to be seal and cover up. No flashing for the roof area yet.

Level 5 is ready for use once the need for it happens, but work still taking place on level 6. Hard to say how much mesh still has to be install on the south side. The parking area on the south side of the parking structure close to the public now with one been used by the trades and the other by the bus terminal torn up and being graded.

Can't see why 4 out of 8 bus bays will be out of service come May 28, as I don't see a reason for it at this time.

The new platform seeing some melting equipment and not close to seeing concrete for it.

I don't know if the south bus stop for John St will be back in service come May 28, otherwise it will be a long walk since the Hillcrest stop is out service and not sure if the one at TL Kennedy is in service. If not, A long walk from Dundas to the station due to gas line work. So much for taking transit.

With all the silva cell place in front of the station that I saw and expecting to see green, one huge concrete slab now.

MODS NOTE NEW ADDRESS: 3210 Hurontario ST and not sure why not a John St number, other they are going to use John St for the new road.

Lot more up on site and different dates
The new bus bay area can holds 10 buses. The waiting area for GO Buses is an empty shell at this time with some seating. Haft of level 5 is open for parking once the needs for it down the road. The east elevator not install and will be late fall before it it will be ready for use. Some of the trees will not make it past the fall.

More up on site.

Lots of people using the station as a exercise route by using the bus bay to get to Hurontario - Hillcrest- Condos and back again. Lots of drivers trying to get to the condos by John St to only have to turn around.

Can't understand why a ramp was built here when the sidewalk is to the left and a less sloping than the ramp.

My 1 year old boy likes to put on his construction hat and go watch the big machines working at this station. Sorry I missed you and I really appreciate your pictures.

If the province is so starved for cash, why do they keep wasting land and money on surface parking lots and parking garages? That should all be transit-oriented development with affordable housing components and possibly parking if it's still desirable. This parking lot represents a loss of tens of millions of dollars that could have went towards electrified transit. It's not "the highest and best use of the land".
