Yep, i doubt we will ever see a second tower now. If they redesigned the condo units with more livable floor plans instead of pied à terre's for rich people and investors, they would have no trouble selling it in this housing crisis.

Now that the east tower is about 26 floors above ground, it is starting to make its presence known across the Entertainment District, rising into the centre of the following photo from John and Richmond this morning:

Imagine a typical ED 'table top' tower (47 floors) rising on top of the existing structure and you'll get the picture of how this will dominate the hood. With better cladding, of course!

There was a front-page article in the Star today about the second tower. It is officially paused, but not cancelled.

Cohen said 86 per cent of the units in the east Forma tower have been sold.
Sales are on hold for now.
“We stopped sales after we started construction. We’re going to wait it out,” Cohen said of the market headwinds, noting they’ll open sales again in “maybe ‘28 or ‘29 when the building starts getting towards completion.”
As for the second tower, they have not started construction, a decision influenced “completely” by the current condo market.
“We’re going to wait for the market to show some rebound,” Cohen added.
But they will build it eventually, it’s all designed and has zoning approval.

“Obviously it needs its twin on the west side,” but the east tower “definitely sets a precedent for the core,” in terms of architecture, she added.

“I was told on one of his final days, (Gehry) did see a photograph of the skin being put onto the building. And he was so, so happy, so, so proud, ” Cohen said.

The article also mentions that "several buildings in the Toronto region have recently been cancelled". Does anyone know which buildings those are? I have always thought it would be useful to have a "Cancelled Projects" thread here at UT where said cancellations can be tabulated (as with the cranes), but someone, I think Insertnamehere, suggested to me not long ago, if memory serves, that the publicization of developments' cancellations is rare. They just sort of slip into abeyance and ultimately vanish unannounced.

You're mixing up two different things here. The market has crashed for different reasons. Your statement is one of the reasons. The market crash is an effect not a reason.

This is the perfect site for a tower of this height and design, with its siting between various high density areas of the city. Albeit I'm still sour about the loss of the prior building on site.
