Not to get off-topic but there are streetcars that use batteries. No there are zero plans. Battery technology would be horrible for LRT or streetcar service. Not reliable enough and also just a dumb thing to do.
I was recently in Seville, Spain and their system has no overhead wires for a large portion of the line. The battery charges in 30 seconds at streetcar stops. There are several functional and aesthetic advantages, so it's not a dumb thing to do.

This technology has recently been installed in Newcastle, Australia and Luxembourg as well.
As battery technology improves, we should absolutely look into this possibility. Imagine having no overhead wires.
