Toronto Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

I much preferred the initial KPF design for this site. I’m a fan of tall, slim designs and this is going to be quite a beast. The One is an example of a style I like and will look great even at the reduced height. Hopefully the developers here will use curtain wall glass as depicted in the first renders of the latest version, which will help. The north/south profile should be interesting and I like the proposed roofline. I live two blocks from here and my view is going to change dramatically with the addition of this tower and 8 Elm, which promises to be a lovely addition to the area. Not a fan of the architects-Alliance plan for the Chelsea hotel property. Regardless, this area will be dramatically transformed in the coming years.
What’s the difference between the new and old design aside from the height obviously?

I think he is talking about this one?

I personally like the design now - it is visually quite different from other towers, which Toronto does need.
I think that’s what he was referring to, this project used to be called “ysl residences” but I didn’t know if there was some other design I never heard of. Side note but: I used to really hate the new design but I’ve learned to like it more and more overtime, admittedly it’s a bit wide and will look just a bit jarring on the skyline but it’s much better than the “ysl residences” era design 🤷‍♂️ (imo)

I believe that proposal was near the same height as Pinnacle One is planned for now. So we really didn't lose our tallest supertall per say...it just got moved further down the street.

The original was spectacular and would have done wonders for that intersection; especially after that clunker went up to its northwest (AURA). When YSL got VE'd to the current design most of my interest evaporated. Too early to tell if this will turn out OK, but it certainly won't be the showstopper YSL promised to be,

Especially since Concord Adex is involved.

I also think the original one is an amazing design, just think that the current Concord Sky is good and still gonna do a lot for Toronto, since it is a visible departure from most of the other towers.

And I like Aura... idk maybe I have low standard.

I think Aura is nice at night, but not great during the day.

Aura looks great imo, the slant at the top is a very good feature and it’s more unique than most buildings in Toronto, but it’s not that nice during the day time

When this is complete, it's going to block your view big time....lol.
I mean, the current three tallest buildings in Toronto will be covered by Concord Sky, maybe Scotia Back Plaza will still be in the picture and it is the most interesting looking one out of the three. CN Tower will be there. View will still be pretty nice I think.
