I took a walk over the bridge the other day after hearing all the negativity here. Actually, I think it is quite nice. The mesh is reasonable for keeping debris from falling to the tracks, and I didn't feel my view to be compromised. Glass or plexiglass would be a disaster because it would get dirty and scratched in no time. The rubbery yellow surface has good traction; I wonder how well snow and ice can be cleared from there. The major drawback is a lack of stairs on the south side (as has been said). That should be a priority, and really not even a big challenge (there is space for it). When the Globe and Mail lands are developed, I would also expect another stair access on the north.

I wonder if GO or Metrolinx will now demand that the Spadina and Bathurst bridges be wrapped in metal mesh?

It's as if this bridge became the focus of all their fears.

Been told only when the bridges are rebuilt or replace. It supposed to happen to all bridges and if so, why was 401/Hurontario or the the others replace the last few years not done??

I hope we don't end up having all our overpasses carrying city streets over highways fenced in with chainlink fence like in the US. It looks depressing. But it's most likely done in the US for the same rationale: preventing suicide and vandalism.

Walked on the bridge the other day. It's got nice surface to it and an interesting look with the yellow. My only problem is City Place, because it feels like you're walking into a lifeless, cold, grey area.

Finally had a chance to bike over it, south to north. It's wider than I expected and the mesh doesn't look entirely horrible - good enough to look through. The ramps are at a good incline (compared to something like the Summerhill overpass) and I am looking forward to making it part of my commute, at least southbound, given the direction of the ramps.

Saw this tonight when out walking the dog - art or just trash?

Interestingly, I know someone who knows the person who left it there. He wanted it for his balcony but he couldn't fit it in, so he put it out there. Let's call it a social experiment! If someone wants to take it, feel free. The guy who left it there now has an identical one at home.

At the latest Mouth of the Creek Park public consultation earlier this evening, Adam Vaughan stated that his office is exploring having some Section 37 money from the next CityPlace zoning amendment applications pay for the construction of stairs at the landing of the bridge to make access easier from the east.
