Indeed (and it will happen every Friday morning to Sunday night for next 3-4 weeks) ...... and Cherry remains closed between Mill and Lake Shore and Parliament is blocked at Lake Shore while they connect the new gas main.

One the side: Sometimes road closures are the best thing for us pedestrians...that is, less likely for us to get ran over because some driver is in a hurry.

...watching the deconstructing is entertaining too when we pass by. <3

Announced to CIBC Square neighbours today:

"Separate from the work that will be taking place on Yonge St. for the future pedestrian bridge connecting into Backstage Condominiums, on Monday, October 31st, crews will begin certain construction elements of the future pedestrian bridge that will extend over Bay St. into Union Station. Once complete, this bridge will offer a connection between Union Station and the new CIBC SQUARE office tower at 141 Bay Street.

During this construction, the north side of the Bay West Teamway, which is the indoor walkway on the west side of Bay Street, will be closed for the safety of construction crews and pedestrians on-site. The closure will also impact the stairs to the Union Station train platforms 3-13 inside of the Bay West Teamway.

Crews will construct the foundation for the new bridge during the closure. This work will include drilling, excavation, and concrete construction. The plaza will be reinstated and opened back to the public once this phase of work is complete, which is targeted for late Spring 2023."

Just like we have a crane thread, we should have a thread listing all the major ongoing construction projects. Name it "The Epic Toronto Construction Hell Thread from Hell."

Off the top of my head, there's continuing Union Station work, watermains, bike lanes, Gardiner work, Adelaide and other streets rebuilding, streetcar trackwork, OL prep, the usual 30-40 towers underway, LDL, the Yonge Street rebuild coming soon.

From DSC-san's last contribution: "CRUNCH!!"

From mburrrrr-san's last contribution: "RAT-TAT-TAT!"

...like folk's here need pointless sound effects added to the photographic documentation of this dismantling that's going through my head as I observe those.

That said, I do have a come-way-too-late question: Are they ever planing of restoring those neat arches that graced that bridge? I always thought they gave said pass a lot of character. I am sorry to see them go. But not so sorry if they planning to put new ones in it's place.

They are putting in a new bridge, I have never seen any drawings. Arches seem a stretch to me but.....
