found another building with concrete trees - Dar-es-salaam airport

The most famous of these is the SC Johnson Wax HQ in Racine, Wisconsin.

Yes, it is really worth seeing. Also, have a kringle while you're there, and visit a former Toronto streetcar or two in service down the road in Kenosha.

And Walli and 3xotic, I don't know the history here, but settle down. Though if 3xotic is wrong, could you explain why?

Walli,

What is your source that this information is not correct? Can you please backup your statement before you start deleting your posts and running away/ or getting banned from this site again.

Walli has never been banned here. Not sure what you're talking about.

He's been banned from SCC, my bad.

I'm not sure what SCC is, but there is a 3xotic on SSC. Is that the same person as you? Just trying to make a point.

Irrespective, can I humbly request that we stay on topic. This is the AKM & IC thread.

Must we refer to it as "the Bata site" anymore, then? (Though it's certainly saying something if we do...)

That's a good point, especially since the Aga Khan Museum is not even going to be on the former Bata site.

3xotic - you mentioned the Aga Khan visited the site recently - did you actually see him? What was discussed?

4th High Profile Ismaili Centre Opens

As some will know, the Toronto Ismaili Centre will likely be the 6th high profile Ismaili Centre to be opened world wide. The others already opened to day are London, England, Burnaby, British Columbia and Lisbon Portugal. The fourth was just opened in Dubai, UAE a few days ago, and I thought pictures of that facility might be of interest:

The one in Dubai also includes a public park, similar I guess in philosophy to the public park being planned for Toronto:

The above links are to a blog, and thus are not 'official'. The official site, which includes other items such as speeches and a video of the Ismaili Centre opening (actually very cool) is at:

In any case, the Dushanbe, Tajikistan high profile Ismaili Centre will likely be the fifth one open (has been under construction for some time) making the Toronto centre likely the sixth world wide.

BTW - Portugal recently issued stamps with images of the 3rd of the high profile Ismaili Centres, IE the one in Lisbon:

Some spectacular spaces! The Toronto centre will be in some exclusive company!
