Given how irregularly spaced the gridwork on that upper section is, and how unsatisfactory that would be as a final cladding, there is reason to hope that the "temporary crown" will be replaced by somethng better, I now think. I can't imagine any aesthetic reason to emphasize the top of the buildings in this way since the flat tops are statement enough.

I have been following this thread for some time, haven't contributed anything as I had nothing really valuable to add to the discussion, but I need to say something now:

I agree that the "bottle cap" tops are probably temporary. The same light blue colour cladding can be found on random areas of the building. There are two panels on the ground floor (at the lobby entrance) which are light blue whereas the rest of the panels are grey. The colours don't even match! A good designer would not have proposed this. If they change colour, I will let y'all know. (I'll try to post a photo)

While some builders have no pride in their work and care only about the bottom line, I doubt very much that the people responsible for these towers would allow such shameless lack of attention to detail. (After all, they did paint the exposed concrete on the podium of the bland neighbouring buildings). Cityzen, Fernbrook and the city of Mississauga want these towers to be iconic, landmark buildings. It would be an embarrassment for all three if the end result looked like this.

Don't Panic.

A bit smoggy, but a picture from St. Andrews at King and Univsersity - 27th Floor

I noticed today that the main boom has been added to the jib supports now, which means the main crane is about to be removed.

Once this happens, the MCC skyline will be craneless until this fall or early 2012.

What about the cranes at Limelight and Parkside?

What about the cranes at Limelight and Parkside?

Limelight is still too low and Parkside will not be seen until summer 2012 if at all, looking from the north-east, south-east and east

You were right, drum....crane was coming down today at tower 5...

May 11 Looks like I got the skyline view with the tower crane still in place just in time. That was a faster take down after the jib boom was added.

The following photos will show you will never see another crane in the skyline from the south or south east and the east for MCC unless the towers are 60 storey or more taller. They are from views never shot from before.

Looking at the second last pic, it seems that the older concrete condos and apartments do not belong.

The future has been cast.
