Summary |
The developer for a project at 88 Queen Street East (Phase 2A) has executed a below grade conditional permit development charges payment agreement with the City that requires development charges to be paid at the time of building permit issuance, in accordance with Council policy. The developer has requested that the development charges with respect to the rental units, in the amount of $23,932,223.12, be deferred to occupancy of project and paid in instalments over five years with interest and financial security. There are financial implications to the City of providing a deferral. This Motion provides for a short term deferral of the charges to allow the developer to examine alternate financing options and requests staff to report back on the feasibility and implications of a policy that would allow for the charges to be collected later. |
I wonder how much curved glass are we're really going to end up with?Looks like the two rental buildings will be called The Elm and The Ledbury
The Elm & The Ledbury - Fitzrovia
The Elm & The Ledbury is a premium two-tower rental community situated on the north side of Queen Street East.www.fitzroviarealestate.ca
Fitzrovia love their subtly British inspired names.
Lol. As opposed to The Malibu, Vita by the Lake, Yonge + Rich, or the million other cringeworthy names developers use for marketing? I’d be happy for developers to pick tree names or things with at least some connection to reality.Or thoroughly cringeworthy and embarrassing. It just comes off as a desperate attempt to be viewed as sophisticated and affluent by associating oneself with a name. Very tacky.
.... and then you have others who like to create 'families' - see the Aquas!! One presumably names a Building to make it seem 'important' but also so you can tell people which one it is in an area. (I dread to think of people living in Aqua Ville trying to get their Uber driver to the right building name!Lol. Very few (if any) residential buildings in Toronto are known by their names. Maybe only those attached to hotels (eg. Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons Residences). I doubt that many cab/rideshare drivers would even know "Aura" unless they're skyscraper / urban development watchers. These names are pure branding / marketing - nothing else..... and then you have others who like to create 'families' - see the Aquas!!
