Surprised there were no comments on how this might relate to a revitalized University Avenue.

There was mention of it, though briefly, the applicant touched on the idea; and one panelist wanted to encourage building to the final, best form.

Worth saying, University Park south of College will not be considered at all until the Ontario Line is open, so 2032 at the earliest.

Great to hear they will preserve the existing architecture, but it should be the entire facade instead of glass encroaching on a third of it.

I'm fine with Frankenbuildings - we should be doing more creative reuse/additions instead of clean slate buildings - but why oh why do they need to add the curtainwall to one part of the old building? It's like a compulsion. "We must ruin the original building in *some* way!"

For clarification, there will be no change in facade of the original building, surviving portion.

The lower section w/the different facade, but same proportions is new build.

Ooookay. So it's like the original building + a new build that is sort of smushed against it?

Correct, the new build will replace the footprint of the southern 1/3 of the original building and support the new tower.

@JasonParis and @Parkdalian

Don't get too caught up in the skin on the new build of the podium especially, listening to the presentation, it really isn't a settled issue.

Yeah the suggestion that the new build (1/3) essentially match the Parkin design (2/3) is a good idea. Pretty doable with pre-cast.
