Pouring concrete on York south of Richmond this morning - May 7

May 15: Streetcar tracks installed on York Street between Adelaide and Richmond. Still nothing, nada, a sleeping Blue Norwegian, between Richmond and Queen Streets. More work on refurbishing the Adelaide street curb lanes between York and Yonge Streets, as well as a couple of photos of OCS components being installed.

Not surprised that ML are still farting around between Queen and Richmond (because that's what they do) but it IS only a short piece of track and TTC has several more weeks of overhead work so it MAY all get done for opening in late June.

They just finishing the milling at Victoria tonight and ready for paving subject to any concrete work to be done. The second section will happen next week that will include a small section east of Bay as the rest is already paved. The third section will only see a small section at Victoria. The milling machine will be remove shortly as the truck was waiting for it when I saw it and it could be gone now.

Part of the bike that has been paved is to have a patch added to it as it been mill.

Ties to be install for the south curb lane at Richmond, otherwise ready for concrete work.

The next section of southbound track to take place will place is between Queen and Richmond. Once that is done, Richmond will be dug on over a weekend to installed the track between the 2 sections. This non standard TTC method. No work on the switch for Queen.

Now we just have to wait for Metrolinx to finish on York and the TTC to finish overhead lines and THEN we may see this mythical streetcar!

May 24, 2024: Construction Update

Adelaide Street from York Street to Victoria Street has been repaved and the new road markings have been painted.

During the week of May 27, the low barrier walls for the new cycle track on the north side of Adelaide Street from York Street to Victoria Street will be installed. The new cycling traffic signals are expected to be installed by mid-June.

Ongoing work to install underground Toronto Hydro cables (cable pulling) will continue until the end of the year. This work will require intermittent lane closures around the Toronto Hydro vaults. This work will occur during off-peak hours.

I believe it was topped off with asphalt as recently as the construction detour began, but exacerbated by traffic parked over it since. You can tell even the manhole cover is far from level.
TBF basically every repaved stretch of road in Toronto has lopsided covers, some that make a huge thud when you hit them (hwy 27 south by woodbine) steeles between dufferin and keele, martin grove at dixon, etc

That is true but in this case the road was paved days (if not hours) ago and if it has a puddle already it needs to be fixed 'under warranty'. I emailed the City but ...
