St Lawrence Market

These signs seem to be popping up in St Lawrence and, I assume, elsewhere too. Are they designed to scare the populace or ??

This one at George and King

Thus one at King and Sherbourne

I can see the strategy of getting residents there to blame Doug Ford when they see more public drug use occurring in the streets and the TTC when the current safe injection sites close. Not sure it helps anyone much in St. Lawrence, though, where Ford doesn't have a chance of getting an MPP elected, even if nobody blames him. The local councillors and MPPs are all in favour of keeping the sites open.

Using the Ontario Health logo 😡

It's a bit annoying and clearly bad strategy. Obviously the anonymous activists want to undermine trust in Doug Ford's Public Health department, but it won't be a conservative public health department forever and trust in it will be important some time in the future.

There has been some neighbourhood push-back about the proposed stand-alone St Lawrence District library on the site at 125 Market St - where the 'temporary' Market tent is. Some people were pressing for library plus housing but the TPL resisted. Now the TPL seem to be giving up and looking for another site. This from their Board next week.

*sigh*

This is why we cannot have nice things.

So plans for that site have gone from it being an extension of David Crombie Park, to being a Library, to being a Library with apartments on top, to now likely just being apartments with retail below now. Crazy.

According to signage, these folk (who have a head office in Orlando, Florida) are opening in the former pot shop at Front & Frederick. They have other stores in Toronto.
I was surprised to see this opening right across the street from Pet Cuisine, mainstay of the neighbourhood, operated for 20 years by councilor Chris Moise. And there at least two other pet food shops within a 5 minute walk as well. I know there are a lot of dogs in the hood, but I hope there's sufficient business for all these places to share.
