Rob Ford's Toronto

I think that whoever supports Ford at this point can be broken down into 2 types of people:

1. People who subconsciously are ashamed of having supported Rob Ford, but can't admit that they make mistakes. I think these people take all of the incoming hostility directed to Rob Ford personally, as if it was they who are being blamed, rather than Rob Ford. Being a victim has a certain sexiness to it, right? I mean, you get to harbour feelings that you're David in a struggle against Goliath and that the fact that everybody is against you reinforces your individuality.

2. People who worship the Rob Ford of their imaginations. These people bought into a personality cult and don't judge Rob Ford on his actual actions. BTW, this is not "I'd like to have a beer with him" territory. This is more like "I worship Him and submit to Him" territory.

Some of these people are really bizarre. Some of the things they voluntarily do haven't been done outside of totalitarian regimes. I mean, there are bad mayors, but what mayor in living democratic history has things like a moniker for his disciplies ("Ford Nation") and religious-like pilgrimages to a festivity of worship in his honour (his BBQs)? I even read a story in the Toronto Star about a girl who wrote a song lionizing Rob Ford using words like "Mayor Ford, cost cowboy and rollback viceroy." and "Toronto's defender". WTF?

I'd add a third group: people who haven't been following the Ford dramedy closely, have heard only bits & pieces, and have bought the idea that Ford is being "picked on". On the subway I heard a couple people talking about Ford, and they seemed to have this perspective. E.g. they believed that Ford's misconduct is limited to his personal life. I jumped in and pointed out that he's gotten drunk at City Hall, on City time, he said the dirty words at City Hall, he dragged his wife to City Hall for one of his apologies, and so on, so the overlap between his work and personal lives is on him. I didn't get the impression that these clarifications swayed these two people's opinions much.

What's weird to me about the Alana thing is that she doesn't have a lawyer saying 'she's not a sex-worker and if you suggest she is we sue'. That's what I'd do in an instant if someone accused me. Not get my parents and my work pal to say 'she isn't'. I mean, that and a buck fifty will get you a coffee at Tim's, frankly. So I have no idea if she is or isn't but I find it odd there hasn't been a ringing first hand denial.

You would have to be so out of touch and ignorant that you hadn't even bothered to read a newspaper, watch the news, spend any time online doing anything but shopping or looking at porn, or spoken with anyone but the other three people you know who are as incurious about, you know, stuff, as you are.

Despite all the huge 'accusations' against everyone wrapped up in the Ford scandal no one, not one has sought litigation. Not one. They bluster and wave their dicks but nothing. I find that very telling. Trite observation, I know.

She may not have the means to hire a lawyer or the connections to get one who will work pro bono.

It is a little odd that she hasn't come forward herself. I'm sure various media outlets are asking for a statement.

not one has sought litigation. Not one.
But no one has come out to the media to tell their story either. In many cases when there's another woman and infidelities (Spitzer, Woods, Giambrone, Clinton), the woman often quickly speaks to the media, looking to capitalize on the attention. This woman is a model/ beauty queen, and even if her interaction with Ford is limited to that one night, there'd be many media outlets who want to hear someone's perspective outside of the police investigation. And you'd think with some many leaving his office, many young and treated unfairly when they were in Ford's employee, and others now threatened with lawsuits, there'd be some now who have no allegiance to keeping Ford's secrets. His press guy is a former Sun reporter - why hasn't he given them an exclusive? Towhey is about the only one who has said anything, and he mostly seems to enjoy baiting people.

I don't think you read my post carefully. You are jumping to lots of conclusions about me and the people I discuss in my post.

If you read the comments in the now toronto article about Alana there are some interesting comments.. Apparently one was a photog on a shoot for her. Another saw her around the clubs quite often and well it all could be bull but is a bit interesting.. Usually I dismiss most comments but I've seen some come to light before.. Anyways, search it on google and it'll show, I'm on my phone so I can't be bothered to post the link sorry.

Has anyone heard if this mess will be on Saturday Night Live tonight?

Yes SNL have confirmed they will cover Mayor Ford tonight. I suspect they will do something in the cold-open and then a segment during "Weekend Update". What I wonder about is if Rob Ford himself will make a cameo appearance? SNL would probably love to have him on in person since I doubt any of the characters will be able to out-funny Rob Ford. Even if Chris Farley was brought back from the dead he could not do the ROFO character justice. For Ford a cameo appearance would be great from a damage control perspective so I could see him doing this. Whatever happens tonight's SNL is not to be missed!

She probably wouldn't have any trouble getting Gloria Allred to represent her pro bono. This is right up Allred's alley!

But there actually are loads of people like that in Toronto, juniorfox!

I'd bet it's going to be a weekend update segment. I also wouldn't be surprised if they brought Jim O'Heir or someone like Phillip Seymor Hoffman in as a cameo. He's not going to be a recurring character. This is timely and lends itself to stunt casting. Drunk Uncle and Rob Ford? Match made in comedy heaven. It might work as a cold opening if it's just a press conference but it won't be a scene. No one in the states cares or knows about anyone else in the scandal other than Ford.
