He looks wasted, and in terrible shape. A couple of mickey's of vodka before heading out with the wife, kids & a staffer for Halloween? That's what I'm thinking.
Seeing him like this at City Hall on countless occasions makes me wonder if he's drinking on the job too - forget about any possible drugs for the moment. I understand that when one drinks vodka it can be covered up on the breath easier than most other alcohol.

Interesting observation by crime specialist Ross McLean on his blog "Crime Power & Politics"

Chief Blair may have broken the law by revealing that Rob Ford was on the video. Blair could be in serious hot water over this (Ford's lawyer is already calling for Blair to resign).

Lots of twists and turns today on the Ford story.....the one that stands out for me, was the Chief revealing evidence that was obtained by warrant (probably two warrants, one to search for computers, then a second one obtained to search the computer for evidence) about the video file he says they recovered.

The Chief has spent the last number of months saying it is against the law for him to discuss evidence found under warrant, that the proper place for that to be revealed is in court....the Chief said he understood the law very well and would not answer questions about evidence obtained under warrant. So the media went to court to fight to get the warrant evidence.... it took months..... the Judge this morning released a highly redacted version of the evidence obtained under warrant. Yet somehow today in the Presser the Chief thought it was all right to reveal the contents of evidence obtained under warrant in a new charge against Lisi. A charge that he had not been arraigned on yet..... the Chief in plain language detailed the evidence and mentioned the Mayor by name, and hooked his activity to media reports of the video and said he was very disappointed.

Why did the Chief think it was legitimate to reveal this evidence? The charges against Lisi ( not Ford ) has not been proven, no court date yet, no knowledge if Lisi would plead guilty, or charges would be withdrawn ( for any number of reasons) or that the evidence would not be objected to and tested by the courts before it could be heard? It is not unusual for evidence not to be allowed if any violation of process or charter rights are violated. Yet the Chief announced it to a room full of press. The proverbial toothpaste out of the tube.....I will be surprised if there are not repercussions for this.

The Mayor said later in the day he wants to defend himself from this....but he is not charged, just "evidence" released prior to a Judges order.

Good question. Do we know he wasn't arrested? They got him on a drug buy. I figure he WAS arrested, it's just not covered in this ITO. But was he ever charged? From the Star story on the Lisi bust:

Either way, Dan is a good candidate for a guy to rat out Ford - if he knows anything. Another is Lisi's friend Andrei Dascaluta, who according to the ITO delivered the drugs that day.

Hmmm. I wonder if it is a case that the video itself plays no part in the Lisi case, and that the contents of the video will not be used against ford since, as we assumed from the beginning, a recording of Ford smoking a pipe would be woefully insufficient grounds on which to base a case or attempt a conviction.

Legally, it might be more akin the the releasing of a security video, often released prior to an arrest in an attempt to identify the perps. Shrug.

This. I don't think there is anything in this. The video itself isn't evidence of extortion but the subject of extortion.

Not to mention, it was seized as part of the Project Traveler raids. Everything else - the warrants, the ITO, the extortion charge - had to do with Project Brazen II.

Sorry Peepers - keep grasping at those straws!
 
People are stupid. I'm listening to Metro Morning playing "man on the street" interviews. One guys says Ford shouldn't resign because what he did in the past doesn't matter, people deserve a second chance, and he wasn't in office at the time! The interviewer points out that this is the pretty recent past, and Ford was in office. Another guy says Ford saved him thousands of dollars -- I think from the VRT. Dude, that was $60, not thousands.
 
Ford has been an embarrassment and is not fit for office.

That being said, many of the comments last night on the Agenda hit close to home about the human impact of all of this. In the end the guy clearly has issues and is in trouble emotional and physically. While I disagree with his politics, I genuinely feel bad for him.

Beyond that, I do agree with the commentary that Ford has been bullied by the media more than your typical politician. Not to say he didn't bring a lot of him upon himself with his lack of openness/accountability, limited press conferences, confrontational nature and pathological lyeing (though let's be honest that all politicians lie). E.g. When he fell over hiking that football last year, that had nothing to do with anything detrimental with respect to the city, and yet he was still destroyed over it.

I hope people don't forget that he is a human being and has a family.

Rob Ford forgot he was a human with a family. I feel no pity for this man. Zero. None. He deserves everything he is getting and far far more. He should have been busted during one of the numerous drug drops the cops watched occur, but no, once again, it lives to lie and deny and cause havoc in this city. Now we have Ford's lawyer demanding the video be shown. To what end? Sure let's see the video but how in the world is that supposed to help Fordo? By making him look like the stupid dupe he was for doing crack and being so careless as to get filmed? Good god man, we are stuck with him still? What will it take, murdering a kitten on live TV?

Was he really "destroyed" over it? Traditional media didn't really cover it much, it really spread over social media.

On a personal level, I really hope Ford can get help one day. Beyond that, I feel no sympathy for him at this point. He really brought all of this upon himself. All the attacks on The Star have proven to be completely unwarranted. For all of the suggestions he's been bullied by the media, it's all been proven to be true.
