lol" Um, and the final interviews, I get to sit on 'em."
Best quote of the day.
Why?There is a publication ban on the proceedings.
State Senator Robert Ford has resigned from office, even as an ethics case against him proceeds at the State House.
Senate Pro Tem John Courson announced Friday he'd received a letter of resignation from Ford. It is effective immediately.
The news came on day two of an ethics hearing against him. The hearing is to decide if the Charleston Democrat violated ethics laws by using campaign money for personal expenses and failing to report expenses, donations, and personal loans.
During Thursday's hearing, the committee heard claims that Ford spend some of the campaign money at two adult stores. Ford says the items were gag gifts for campaign staffers.
Ford's lawyer says the problems were just sloppy bookkeeping.
Ford did not attend day two of the hearing after he spent the night in the hospital.
Ford's attorney told News19 his client was taken to Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia Thursday night, and was released Friday morning. He adds that doctors treated Ford for cardiovascular problems and high blood pressure.
If senators determine Ford violated the law, the findings could be sent to prosecutors.
What was that about Dufferin bridge? Which one? Can't see anything else about it.
Tomorrow could be a turning point. The Nathan Phillips Square chalk up and protest has registered 3,500+ attendees so even if 1/5th of them show up, that's 500+ people. Even a crowd of 100 would look like a large crowd on TV. If 1000 or more people show up, a wide shot of the square with a crowd in front of Ford's office demanding that he resign is going to hit a note. Oh the people support you? Who are those people outside? Add to that the contagious chalking up of the square added to by random passers by and we're going to have a loud united voice from Torontonians saying "RESIGN". He may not, but it will keep up the pressure and continue to destroy his populist brand.

I'd have though that such plans would have been discussed at some point that the media was already informed, and there would be articles flying around. It's the Dufferin bridge over the Gardiner. It's closing June 12 long-term (18 months IIRC) for repairs/replacement.
