Rob Ford's Toronto

So, the City is denying having been requested to destroy records (per Don Peat's Twitter), but the Mayor's Office is pointing out that if they did want to destroy records, that would be perfectly legal? Odd.

I would have thought that it is illegal for political staffers to delete emails but this may not be the case. It seems when McGuinty left office his senior staffers did the same thing:

EDIT:

Further to my comments I just saw this Toronto Star article:

Ann Cavoukian, who will issue a report on the deletions next month, was baffled at the loss of important information supposed to be saved under law.

So lets see if charges are laid against the former McGuinty staffers (not holding my breath).

I wonder if similar laws exist at the municipal level? If so I hope no time is wasted in laying charges.

I basically just ignore anything The Star has to say about anything beyond Toronto sports. I can't get past their ultra left wing agenda, both locally and on an international scale.

Yeah, I often have a difficult time telling The Toronto Star from the Socialist Workers' Weekly. If it weren't for the lack of sports coverage in the latter, I'd be lost...

I get your sarcasm but perhaps you are just so left wing yourself that you are unable to identify it? I myself am probably slightly left of centre on some issues and slightly right on others. But I long ago chose to not waste my precious time on a publication like The Star.

Got to love this attempt to portray oneself as the norm to justify labelling everything else as extreme. BTW, did anyone pass the memo about how extreme is so overused it is about as meaningful as vanilla?

It was previewed on CityTV . It was claimed that it will contain "aggressive" allegations by a former staffer of Mayor Fords substance abuse problems.

Anonymous former staffer no doubt. More 'Me Too!' dying media outlets looking to capitalize on this circus. Can't say I blame them. It's a meaty story.

Your belief in anything is irrevelant - anyone who refers to anything as extreme by default established a not extreme. Besides, you still haven't answered the question about "the truth" I have raised.

It's incredible that this could have all ended with a little poof after the Conflict of Interest ruling. This is going to be a much more satisfying and definitive ending to Rob Ford's political career.

I know! If it was just the conflict of interest thing, Ford could have come back from that. This is going to make the ground beneath him and his entire family radioactive, and that is so much better. It's going to end up as an object lesson in the dangers of falling in with populist politicians, and I think that's really important.
