Rob Ford's Toronto

That "disaster" will win another term. All this media attention will make him stronger come election time.

Ford may start on the ballot, but he won't be in the running. No I won't bet you.

IMO the only way Ford wins re-election is if this video is fake. And I find this possibility extremely remote at this point.

I'd say Holyday's got a much better chance of winning the next election, but I doubt he'll run. He's an easy pick to inherit Ford Nation with minimal loss of the base.

Ford's a spent force. If this whole thing doesn't get him, the next 18 months will. All the major news outlets are now after this story - even the Sun is breaking stuff now.

Also, the powers that be on the right, don't want to back Ford, he's toxic.

I'd be very curious on a Holyday v. Chow poll.

Chow wins. My educated guess.

Metroman, I've been told that a copy of the video is now in NYC. Don't know in the hands of whom. And it seems someone eluded to this in the Gawker comments section yesterday.

This is consistent with what I've heard. There's one copy out of the city. Gawker's silence may indicate that they're working to buy that copy.

Well Marion Berry smoked crack....went to prison....was elected as councillor...then became mayor again. All in a few years.

Smoking crack is only a part of it. It's the lying that is going to doom Ford. His entire foundation is based on straight talking, no non sense, the people's anti-politician.

Comrades, this is excellent news. We are now mere hours from releasing the decoy video and forever ruining Ford's political career. Soon, the City of Toronto will be under our control. A great day for socialism indeed. Evil laugh with me!

Have you ordered the sharks with lasers for the reflecting pool? I hear they're being held up by a laser-installer strike...

I thought anyone with a cursory knowledge of his past behaviour would have been suspicious of his claims.

You're probably right, but I would guess it would be by less of a margin than over Ford. Considering we're a long way away from anyone running, and no platforms being introduced, sorta pointless, really. Besides, the whole crack things needs to be confirmed first. Nonetheless, next years election will be very interesting with or without (preferably) Ford.

My goodness your desperate. Did Marion Berry cause a year and a half of weekly/bi-weekly controversy from the very day he was sworn into office? Was Marion Berry a poor leader? Could Marion Berry string four English sentences together in front of a camera? I could go on.

I think in a head to head election, Olivia ("I lived in subsidize housing while on council with my husband") Chow will lose to Ford. If the best people this city can put forward are Chow and Ford, we are in trouble.

Again, so desperate. This has already been dealt with ad nauseam. It's untrue. Not factual. Without merit. Already dis-proven.

How about sticking to Rob Ford and debating him. When he resigns, gets arrested, dies or starts campaigning for the next election then we can discuss that on the appropriate thread.

Not to be a downer, but it IS Memorial Day in the US, which would also explain their silence. Maybe Cook's at the beach.

When talking to my friend who says he's "one step away" from the original seller, he also said to one of my comments "well, he can't stay up here". That was last week. I figured that meant he went stateside.

You're supposed to rep the city have you lost your brain?
You brought Toronto shame like the last Boston game!
So impaired that you're not even aware
put the crack down and take a crack at being the Mayor!

Best example of this is the whole subway vs. LRT fiasco. Can anyone here please explain to me why LRTs are considered to be "liberal" and subways are "conservative". I can't see the logic in it. It seems like it should be a very non-partisan thing to me. Both liberal and conservative leaning Council members should be supporting what has been shown to be the best transit by urban planners.

Subways represent government doing what people want while LRT represents government doing what they want.

Congrats, you have managed to distill a complex issue into a meaningless us-vs-them soundbite. People may "want" everything, are you suggesting the government should deliver it all? Further, are the said "people" willing to pay for it? Last time I checked, quite a few of them wanted a free-private sector subway promised by you know who -and promptly failed to deliver the pledge.
