Rob Ford's Toronto

For all the similarities noted by Desmond Cole, I guess Tory wanted to differentiate himself from Ford by calling out the cops to close down our Pot Shops just before what's going to be a huge party weekend. Those Yankee tourists will be so disappointed, John. Robbie would probably have been out in the streets partying with them. And Chief Saunders, unless you've got some secret crime data that pot's behind our increase in violent crime lately, you have done nothing to raise the city's confidence in your force.

Illegal "Pot Shops".;)

Maybe Mayor Tory should have gotten out ahead of this one by viewing it through a revenue generation tool lens. Folks seem willing to bear sin taxes better than other taxes. Sounds like the CP in Vancouver yesterday were willing to float "decriminalization" as part of their reformation and it would probably piss off Dougie if he showed some leadership on 'dispensaries'.

Agreed. PET almost got the legalization but stiffer ideals won out; lets hope Trudy gets it done.

Doug Ford can't even make the news for more than a day or two now. That story about him teaming up with Raymond Cho was no more than a blip in the media.

As it should be. Why does anyone care who a lowly MP chooses to be his campaign manager? Do you know who your MP employed in the last election?

The only reason it was reported at all was because everyone loves the circus . . . and the media sure loves to cover it.

Not even an MPP - just a candidate.

You're right, of course.

Which reminds me of Merv, one of the NDP's star campaign managers. He won Peggy Nash her first seat, but liked to keep a low profile, so low in fact that I once saw him quoted after an all-candidates debate telling the press what an awesome job Peggy had done . . . but as a member of the audience.

Anyone else out there reminded by Project Claudia of the 1981 Bathhouse Raids by Toronto's finest? Okay, so this time the "evil doers" were given warnings in advance and it doesn't appear that any "found-ins" were charged. Maybe TPS has learned something from their G20 debacle.
