“Why would I stand up for Sodom and Gomorrah?” she said, standing now in solidarity with her mayor against what she was pretty sure a LGBTQ putsch to take over school and society. “I wouldn’t stand up for World Pride, the gay community has attacked our school system. It’s not hate – it’s anger.”

It was nearly the end of the week when Fortino said that to reporters. By the standards of what most of us consider polite and decent society, the sentiment is reprehensible. By any standard, in spite of Fortino’s protest to the contrary, they are hateful words.

But by the standards of brand-re-enforcement, those words are pure gold.

After the previous week’s unconvincing attempt to create a redemption narrative upon his return from a dubious-sounding two months in rehab, Mayor Ford clearly needed to do something to remind his angry core of supporters why they voted for him in 2010.

Last week, with great purpose and zeal, he pretty much did everything. And if he ever wondered whether it would work: well, at least Iola Fortino was there to tell him he did good.

Just posted on the Globe and Mail: Marion Berry on Rob Ford.

“He’s making a fool of himself. He shouldn’t use the fact that he’s been abusing drugs as an excuse for being a fool,†he said.

“I sympathize with him. I know what he’s going through, but I don’t agree with what he’s doing.â€

Berry scoffs at comparisons between himself and Ford!

“He’s not connected to me. He doesn’t have my historical record of achievement in America,†he said. “There’s no comparison.â€

Oh gawd, that Marion Berry self-aggrandizement is gold; so we have the best mayor, the historical record of achievement in America. Move over Kim Jong Il, the sun is rising over here.

I think it's pretty evident from the lack of fundraising/real "camping",the Dysfunctional Duo have conceded defeat, but their bloviated ego's can't admit as much.

Take Tug as the first example. A Campaign managers #1 priority is to "Control the message" coming out of the campaign. So far we've heard sweet bugger all from Rub except the usual gravy train schtick. We have a fluffer/sober coach talking to the press and it comes across as bizarre, to say the least. Then we have Ford nation types, EYE OLA the batshit religious homophobe nutter....working on his "camping".

Rub and Tug are asking voters to "judge him on his record", at the same time everything that is problematic is dismissed as the past and they are moving forward. You can't have it both ways.

We are also asked to "judge him on his following through for the taxpayer and watching every dollar", once again this is bullshit, he has dragged not just the city down with his antics but wasted MILLIONS of dollars of council's time dealing with his asinine behavior and refusal to be HONEST. On top of that, his transit plan has shown it will under serve the very people it's meant for and for an EXPONENTIALLY higher cost with an EXPONENTIALLY longer timeframe before becoming a reality.

Tug's job as camping manager so far has amounted to yelling at reporters, letting his idiot brother hide behind some bullshit "disease" while not trusting him enough to remain sober on his own he's hired a minder, but good golly folks "YOU SHOULD TRUST HIM".

I'd love for a reporter to ask "If he can't trust himself to remain sober on his own how the hell are we supposed to trust him"????

Rub can spout his rehab bullshit all he wants, he's not even SKIMMED the surface of his very deep problem and I think most people know this. His low self esteem, his hanging out with lowlifes (because they makes him look/ feel better about himself), his lack of a relationship with his children "they hate me", his wife who calls him (aptly so) a "Fucking idiot" all of this has been swept aside with the bullshit excuse he was born with a disease. I'm an alcoholic and can tell you first hand that had he said what he did in front of my counsellor he would have ROASTED him, because as usual, Rob is still playing the victim.

Fuck him, fuck his brother and I hope his sober coach get's exposed as some scam artist, which given the Ford's history I expect to happen.
 
I've been thinking that we need to simplify/harshen the message for Rob so that it might get through... something akin to "Man the f*ck up and take responsibility for your actions!" It might just be blunt enough to break it's way into his tiny little mind.

Wednesday’s acrimonious session of Toronto city council, during which Mayor Rob Ford was grilled by councillors over his drug and alcohol use, was “kind of like what they did to Jesus,” according to the mayor’s brother Doug.


Speaking to the Toronto Sun’s Joe Warmington, the Ford brothers remained defensive after one of the most bizarre episodes in the ongoing scandal engulfing Ford’s mayoralty that started with crack cocaine and now includes allegations of assault, extortion and even prostitution.


During the heated debate Wednesday, the mayor admitted under questioning from his colleagues to buying illegal drugs while in office and council voted overwhelmingly to demand he take a leave of absence (although it cannot compel him to do so). Doug Ford at one point demanded to know which councillors had ever smoked marijuana and Rob Ford proposed drug testing for all members of council.


In Warmington’s Sun column on Thursday, the mayor said the drugs he purchased were not for his personal use and Doug Ford compared his brother’s treatment to a modern-day crucifixion.
