Rob Ford's Toronto

Status
Not open for further replies.
Watching the Stephanie Smyth interview. Has anybody thus far asked him what support system he has in place (AA, NA or otherwise) now that he's out of rehab? One of his stock lines here is that he's going to have this disease for life and that he's getting professional help to deal with it. So let's get some details, media...

From Ivor Tossell at G & M:

"That Rob Ford-shaped hole? Toronto is not eager to fill it"

Instead of a positive media outreach, Mr. Ford faced one calamity after another. For this, we can thank the other bad habit that rehab won’t rid you of: your brother. Even before Rob Ford stepped in front of the cameras, Doug Ford’s McCarthyite incompetence was already dragging things back to the status quo."

"Doug is like King Midas’ least-beloved cousin: everything he touches turns into a tire fire."

excerpt:
Once again, Mr. Ford went to enormous pains to take full responsibility for all of his actions, so long as it didn’t mean accepting anything resembling a consequence. He insisted once again that he’ll “never be able to change this mistakes that I have made in the past” – if only he could turn back time, like Cher astride a battleship. I don’t think he fooled anyone. If Rob Ford really did get his hands on a time machine, his record on bigotry wouldn’t change, but pictures of him at mid-70’s Super Bowls would start showing up in old issues of Sports Illustrated.

Toronto city council is being asked to prevent Mayor Rob Ford or any other elected official from barring some media outlets from city hall news conferences.

A motion from Councillor Paula Fletcher urges her colleagues to take a stand at next week’s council meeting against adopting exclusionary tactics while using taxpayer-funded facilities.

“This has got to do with the fact that this is public property,” she said. “City facilities and city staff should not be used to aid and abet somebody who says not everybody is welcome.”

“If you wish to go to your own property, you can invite whoever you like.”

Another great piece. They are coming fast and furious now, finally!

Rob Ford went to rehab to combat substance abuse, and like everyone, I hope it takes. But substance abuse wasn’t the problem that Torontonians had with Rob Ford. The problem is that he has the moral bearings of a toddler.

In that sense, nothing has changed. What has changed is the city around him. Anger is rising. Anger is manifesting itself. Anger is taking off its shirt and going for a jog.

Wonder also if the media is finally listening to us.

The best part of that article was his description of shirtless jogger!!

Did Rob Ford 's exclusion of certain media infringe on the rights of the journalists? By controlling the message was that a breech of the Charter of rights and or City Hall policies? The journalists have the right to express themselves even if it is not flattering to a politician.

Could the case be made that they have rights as individuals to assemble peacefully and protest just as RfMG have the right to be assembled and protesting in city hall? Could the journalists have gone into the selected press, press conference anyway in protest?

Trying to interpret Doug is challenging at best, but I think he meant "cracker", as in white trash that walks around shirtless. But it's Doug, so it could mean anything.

I've noticed lately (it may have been going on for a while) that some conservatives have changed their pronunciation of words. Maybe they are attempting to create a pigeon version of English to identify themselves to the greater community, Dougie's use of language would seem to promote that, and Robbie pretends to be a polyglot.

I see it as his bigtop squawkertalk.
"Yeaaaah that's iiiit....he's a craaackerjack ya hear. He's a loose moose, a maroon.."

Just another loophole the Ford bros. are using to their advantage, nothing new. If it wasn't for loopholes they would both be at McJobs with McRobb.

RFMG has been constantly harassed by Forties, they hope to elicit the group to break a rule so they can be expelled from CH. The bros. have ramped up their efforts since Robbie came back from well-hah. The bros. don't like constant eyes on the activities at CH, especially around Robbie's office.

What exactly is a "crackerjack"?

Doug Ford quintuples down: "This teacher in my opinion, Doug Ford’s opinion, is a little crackerjack, running around with no shirt on."

He's a real crackerjack, eating his little red apples.

What language does Doug Ford speak? Does he think those are actual expressions people say?

Grr, those dastardly brothers are very good at knowing how to get away with bad things, i sure hope the tide turning against these two gains more momentum.

Backup strategy donation

From his performance over the last couple of days, brother DoFo’s judgement on optics and his compassion appear more questionable than ever.

As Silverstein is making bread from the heat of the Ford, may I wryly suggest that some turd polishing may now be required for Doug, as well as Rob?

Assuming that there’s still mileage in the Contrite & Recovered RoFo story, Doug could come forth all manly big brother-like to insist that Rob resign and withdraw from mayoralty race, to focus on his health and family.

Then, send Rob back down to the minors. Announce that Rob will run again as Councillor for Ward 2. Their Second Chance story might work better. More number 2 in Ward 2. Potholes, potholes, potholes.

Send Mikey Kikass-Ford back down to the basement.

Finally, announce that you’re stepping in to help out in dire circumstances and run for mayor yourself.

Doug Ford 4 Mayor. You’re welcome.

PS: Isn’t the apples reference to RoFo’s nickname at Dixon?
