One assumes he's going to "rehab" in the US in part to complicate an arrest. If charges are coming it's doubtful they would be laid while he's in an American medical facility - the optics are bad and the extradition would be a pain. In a perfect world he'd get arrested by CBS at the border, disrupting his triumphant return to reclaim the throne.

Does anyone here still think charges are forthcoming?

So, how's everyone planning to spend May?

Imma gonna read ITO's erry day. And, go into training, drop 20lbs. I'll be peak, and if I see that goof in this town again, I’ll rip his f---ing throat out. I’ll poke his eyes out. . . . I’ll make sure that motherf---er’s dead. I am a sick motherf---er, dude...I can’t talk like this. I’m so sorry. I forgot there was a woman in the house.

I’m f—–g sick of politics dude. Look at my record… I’m gonna win...If you don’t get a shot in two seconds I’ll knock your f—–g teeth out.

Does anyone here still think charges are forthcoming?

They damn well better be. How could TPS recover the public's faith if they don't bring something? G20...McCormick's corrupts kids...Craig Bromwell. It's sickening. I want Lisi now on bail violations. Let him stew until trial.

2.12.3 Voluntary leave of absence without pay
After six months of continuous service, full-time Councillor staff
are eligible to apply for up to 20 days' leave of absence without
pay per calendar year, during which their benefits continue.
http://www1.toronto.ca/city_of_toronto/city_clerks/city_council/files/pdf/handbook_ext.pdf

Those 20 days would be the equivalent of four weeks. More if stat Holidays are factored in.

He may also be eligible to use Lieu and Vacation time.

As long as he doesn't book-off sick, it's noooobody's business where he is.

Not sure, but this may also apply to the mayor:

Is there an HR specialist in da house?

Old Serbian proverb ( from Twitter ) "Drunkards say what sober men think."

Another pearl of wisdom from Twitter: "As we say in recovery circles, you can sober up a horse-thief and, without profound change, all you've got is a sober horse-thief."

Semi retired HR Exec here ... What HR pearls of wisdom can I share? :)

And yes, drunk men speak sober man's thoughts. Might have something to do with filter loss. Damn those Serbs are smart!

I think the perfect world is that it would happen this morning. You arrest him, he goes on bail and then he can do his rehab skit at home. It's absurd how they allow him to just go out of the country when all hell is breaking loose here. Don't we have rehab facilities here?

The media wants to get quotes from other city councilors, his family, the common shmuck on the street. The real question should be asked (hopefully by the American media) to the authorities. What should be asked is how is the city's fattest, easiest and simplest "Where's Waldo" character criminal as a common occurrence to see him publicly drunk, driving dangerously and hanging out and smoking up with commonly known drug dealers. Yet nobody in an authority figure can seem to figure it out and they only time he's busted it was while in Florida and currently in BC. Odd isn't it.

I want to have faith that the right thing happens, but I have my doubts.

Can we discuss the likelihood of him not being excused and thus triggering the 3 council absence countdown, effectively ending his reign as the best mayor in the history of the world?

Edit: is the 3 absence rule contingent on council excusing it or does it get counted regardless of the vote?

/goes back to lurking

Hi ArtDecorum

As they say in politics, "A week is a long time."

He has until July 8.

If he is in a bona-fide treatment program at that time I have no doubt Council will grant an extension for health reasons.

Um, yeah, I pointed that out hours ago and I'm not an internet superhero

Yes you did. I should have mentioned that. :)

I hate to be *that* guy, but please don't use the honorific "right honorable" for the mayor. Nor is he hizzonor/His Honor.

RtHon is reserved for past Governor Generals, current and former PMs and Chief Justices of the supreme Court.

Mayors are "His/Her Worships".

Thank you for that information, right honourable sir, his honour YYZ2YHZ.

Also why the hell would you go to Halifax? With all due respect, your majesty.

Apparently the guys selling this crack video planned on taking it to the Star first but they got lost and ended up driving to their printing facility off the 400.
